T56 6 Speed Conversion for 82-92 F-bodies link

This link is a good start, but only a start. A few months ago I did my T56 conversion and added a lot of input to this thread on TGO. http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/trans ... hread.html

It’s a very long thread with over 200 posts, a lot of it is useless, especially the morons at the end of the thread that are breaking the clutch push rod when the over tighten it, don't use tapping lube on the die nut, and screw a nylock onto the hollow rod. (Ok.......sorry.....my rant.....done now)

Anyway if anyone needs any help on this swap please let me know. It's still fresh in my mind. I also worked out how to modify my trans to drive a speedometer cable. I offer this service if needed.

I also read how a T56 is a "noisy" transmission. Well that's pure crap. I took the time to check and set my trans to about .0015 to .002 preload everywhere I could and my trans is way more quite than the T5 ever was. You just have to take the time to make the special rod needed to check the auxiliary counter shaft endplay. Takes 10 mins on a lathe. But no one (except me it seems) ever does this. This rod is shown in the FREE manual available on Tremec's site. http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/me ... Manual.pdf

The T56 is the second best mod I've done to my car. With SFC's being the first.

thanks , unlike many forums our main goal here is getting you guys the best possiable info, so if that takes an off site link, well as long as it helpful thats fine!

Well I kinda took the lead from you Grumpy. The links you post are very helpful, and to try and pick out the worthwhile posts in the TGO thread I linked to would be difficult. And what's useless to me in the thread may not be useless to someone else with less experience.
