Tailpipe length after muffler

What is the effect of the tailpipe length after the muffler? SBC with 500 hp with tri-y headers and a X pipe before a single 5" in and out muffler. Down pipe before rear housing or 4' of oval tubing exiting out the rear? Road racing car needing to meet 98 db FYI.

Its Trial and error testing often to find the best size tail pipes after the Muffler.
Usually in Daul exhaust systems you just run the same size tailpipes forward of the Mufflers.

Is a single 5 inch muffler a requirement? Two 2-1/2 inch mufflers would have a significantly more
flow area. You could even go to a 3 inch system and be nearly as good as open headers, just hard to
find anyone locally that can bend that size exhaust pipe.

Some more details would be very helpful.

I am assuming its a 3rd Gen IROC Camaro Or a 3rd Gen Trans Am.
Why 5" inch single exhaust in place.
I seen a custom bent 5"inch single exhaust on a 700 HP Big Block Chevy IROC Camaro in the Race shop I worked in Chicago.
