has anyone used one and if so what did you think. I have a 1984 700R4 that I would like to use in my 1988 Monte Carlo. I plan on using later model parts and modified 27 spline pump 350 TQ max 3600lb car Boss Hog 48402 converter

Yes John here has one a TCI Constant Line pressure Valvebody.
He street drives & road races.
He Loves it.

The only good 100 % reliable TV throttle body was used in 1987- 1993 Corvettes.
Rest are rolling the dice even with all shift kits out there.

I’m more worried about the 6 vane pump and 27 spline input shaft in the 1984 trans how much can they take
6 pump is not to good for High performance use.
I honest forget how to use a 10 Vane pump on a early 700R4.
Never did it myself.
Read it a long time ago.

1987 Up 700R4 cores best to start with.
Stronger & most engineering faults solved.
Need a Beast Sungear shell still.

I have plenty of the 87 and up cores to work with but my converters not a 30 spline and I’m trying to keep from having to buy a new one this is one of the reasons why I’m sticking with the 84 trans and I do have 300 passes on it has been a very good tranny to me in stock form and it still works with 285k miles on it but I want to use it in my 88 monte that should run a second faster maybe a milder rebuild with updated parts only a 14 second car 305 powered

I am a Racer too.
I get attached to Parts that worked.
A torque converter is kinda an expendable race item. Comes a time to replace or improve it.

I like Hughes torque converters when money is tight and not huge Power used.
Big Power and racing to win I want a Coan Racing Torque converter.

It does not make physical & logical sense to use an inferior early 700R4 core when you have plenty of 1987 & up 700 R4 core those are 1000 times better.

Racers trade and sell parts when needed.
Be resourceful.

Not into going fast just turning the win lights on I foot brake race I don’t street race so buying parts for big power is a waste of money for me I will take a consistent 13 second car over a 9sec Facebook glory ride any day

yeah, theres a lot of benefit in owning a fairly fast,
yet totally dependable car that does not require constant maintenance ,
and has very few parts break.
Id rather own a low 11 second street drive-able corvette ,
than a trailer to the track 9 second garage queen.

Not many true Street cars that can actually run 11s on an unprepared road.
Lucky to run 14s.
