the 25 caliber bullet in a necked up 223 case allows a significant increase in projectile mass,
most 223 bullets are 55-70 grain, the 25 caliber wildcat generally uses 87-100 grain bullets
and as a result, more impact energy without any significant reduction in trajectory,
over the 300 yard ranges most combat occurs
this is considerably flatter shooting than the 7.62/39 ak round
lower recoil yet a very noticeable increase in power over a 223 , better for hunting and self defense
the only down side is the ammo cost is a bit higher and handloading is almost mandatory, if you want to store larger quantities of ammo.

keep in mind you have several options other than a 223/556 caliber upper on a AR15 style clone rifle, the 25/223 uses standard ar15 magazines
the larger bore options inevitably provide you with more close range and in some cases more down range extended range power,
at the cost of less magazine capacity, in an ideal world ,
you want too select a cartridge that still uses the original ar15 magazines, and an interchangeable upper,
the Grendel type 2 uses a separate upper and unique to the cartridge but reasonably priced magazines but they fit and function in a standard ar15 lower receiver the larger capacity mag,
in 6.5 Grendel type 2 holds 26 cartridges due to the larger diameter case
