the 45 acp pistol , for dual concealed carry and hunting use

I don,t know how many guys handgun hunt ,and might consider hunting with the handgun,
they choose to use in concealed carry use,
while a 45 acp is not what many guys would consider ideal,
its fully able to kill deer and hogs if the range is reasonably short and the hunters skills,
allow precise shot placement.
most hunting handguns are too large for easy concealed carry use.
Id think, most guys, who consider hunting with a handgun ,don,t use the same weapon,
as they carry concealed, most guys seem to use magnum revolvers like a 357, 41,44 mag or 45 lc.
obviously the size and weight of any pistol you consider for dual use,
( concealed carry and hunting )
the 45 acp, has a long standing reputation for effective, personal defensive use.
(keep in mind that reputation was mostly built using non-expanding hard ball mil style ammo, )
some commercial projectiles with expanding bullet designs exist ,and they can marginally enhance lethality,
but at typical 45 acp velocities rarely expand reliably, and will be a compromise in both areas,
and theres few pistols well matched to both uses,
personally I found the 45 acp truncated cone hard cast bullet to work reasonably well.
punch a hole in the vitals even if expansion is minimal and lethal damage is done,
but expect archery like responses,
IE, game tends to run and quickly bleed out if shot placement is good,
and a deer or hog can at times run an amazing distance in 10-30 seconds it takes too bleed out.

one of the few rather common pistol calibers that have decent potential in both areas...are chambered in 45 acp or 10mm
Ive used a CZ witness

and an AMT long slide in 45 acp for hunting ,
I vastly prefer pistols with a minimum of a 4" barrel length for the dual use,
you really need the longer sight radias and longer barrel to provide good velocity and longer range accuracy
heres some examples of 45 acp pistols,

and probably a dozen other manufacturers have now or in the past sold
4.5" to 7" barrel length 45 acp semi-auto pistols that can be used for hunting at reasonable handgun ranges
(generally 50 yards or less) the 45 acp has a rather unique potential characteristic in that a cast 200 grain-230 grain projectile can be used at rather moderate pressure levels, and with out much recoil or report volume ,compared to the larger magnum pistols yet it still seems too function rather effectively
Id suggest from personal experience that you don,t select the 45 acp as the ideal hand gun cartridge, certainly the 41 and 44 mag and if you can handle more recoil, the 445 dwsm, 454 cassul and 480 ruger revolvers, are a bit better in my opinion, but Ive killed a few deer and over a dozen hogs with a 45 acp pistol so its certainly possible to do so.

your thoughts gentlemen?
