The Eaa 45 Acp And Glock 45 Acp Consistently Get The Nod,

I certainly expect to hear from guys with a totally different opinion,
and this is not trying to debate any cartridge choices, as theres dozens of viable cartridges,
no I'm simply pointing out what I've seen ,
and that is that basically full size semi auto pistols seem to be,
consistently easier to master and consistently hit with,
than the much smaller and more easily concealed pocket pistols many people think of as ideal for concealed carry use.
Ive been to the local pistol range several times in recent weeks,
now obviously your opinion may differ,
but I see strong trends at times watching closely and when I can,
helping the newer shooters make choices,
people make choices based on their past experiences,
(or total lack of experience in many cases)
but you might be amazed at what some actual hands-on,
practice can do to change your outlook.
I generally start out new handgun shooters with a 22lr ,
SWJ6RAVONSVAKOXRDCQ4LF5ZF4.png

until they get the basics on safety and sight alignment, and firearm operation, skills.
I noticed a very similar result, many people now have decided they want a new handgun, for home defense or concealed carry use.
many initially, are looking at the smaller and more easily concealed handguns in 380 acp and 9mm,and 22lr
like a PPK, S&W M & P/c , beretta bobcat, etc,
until they try those pistols and in many cases find them hard to place shots consistently and accurately.
theres zero doubt ease of concealment is a strong enticement in many peoples minds
but I almost always find the people that go that route, or own those handguns,
rarely practice and many even when not under high stress emotional loads
,can't hit squat even at 7-10 yards with the smaller handguns they own.
I think this range time , prior to making a choice,
in the handgun they purchase, for many of my neighbors ,
opened several peoples eyes to the difference in the choices,
they make before purchasing a defensive handgun.

https://www.gunstocarry.com/best-9mm-handgun/

I have a couple of my neighbors and their wives who recently decided to purchase defensive handguns ,
I've let many try several, varying from the small and easy to conceal to the full-size pistols,
I found that most of the people find they shoot much more accurately,
with full size pistols the GLOCK pistols in 9mm, 45acp are used,
and liked quite well, as is the EAA witness.
yes these are larger and heavier and less easily concealed,
but they work, and if called on they are demonstrated to be more consistently accurate,
and faster to accurately place shots on a target's vitals

KEEP IN MIND!
MANY commonly carried handguns ,
especially the smaller versions in smaller calibers,
are TOTALLY INCAPABLE of stopping a determined attacker ,
with only randomly placed shots ,
and that fact has has been understood for decades ,
If your just firing off shots rapidly in the threats general direction,
rather than precisely placing your individual shots,
your very unlikely to achieve the desired result.

only critically placed shots to the vitals on a determined attacker,
and multiple hits are likely to be quickly effective

the EAA WITNESS is an EXCELLENT VALUE in a REASONABLY PRICED DOUBLE ACTION 45 ACP PISTOL,
there are hundreds of effective potential choices,
but ask yourself, if defending my family and my lifes dependent on how effectively I can defend myself with my pistol of choice,
is my choice made more on the effectiveness or ease of the tools use or of concealment,
Id strongly suggest concealment take lower priority if the tool you choose won,t get the job done fast and effectively,
under most conditions, you've made the wrong choice

the FBI has determined that a pistol or rifle projectile that will consistently exceed at least 12" of penetration, but not exceed about 18" of penetration in ballistic gel to produce the desired results on a human target without having a huge potential for producing external damage well beyond the intended target once it passed through that target.

personally I've come to see the 357 mag, 10mm and 41 mag as about the ideal compromise in power potential range, accuracy, penetration and accuracy in controllable size and concealable handguns , provided the correct ammos used in a quality handgun of course, in the ideal world you want the ability to rapidly and repeatedly and accurately place your shots out to a reasonable distance, that means excessive recoil is to be avoided, of course your skill and practice level effects your choice and ability to do that.

I got into a brief but I thought rather interesting discussion, concerning our CCW pistols of choice,
obviously we all make choices based on personal values,
and before you go out to hunt with any pistol you must check your states firearm and wildlife fish & game license depts laws to be sure its legal.
keep in mind you life could depend on how effective the firearm you select to use is at stopping an antagonist.
who might be hopped up on drugs, or determined to kill you.
I was recently at the local range with my brother-in-law, his concealed carry pistol of choice,
index.php

is a very small but dependable 380 acp, pistol from Springfield arms.
now keep in mind I use an inside the waist band holster ,
and have zero issues with easy concealment, even with a full size pistol,
but Im 6'3" and about 250 lbs, he is about 5'10" and about 180 lbs
he uses a pocket holster, for his pistol, that is a springfield armory 380 compact pistol which he loves,
he generally uses remington 102 grain ammo,
https://www.luckygunner.com/remington-380-acp-ammo-for-sale-380auto102bjhpremsaber-25
due to its very small size and easy concealment,
I was carrying a EAA stainless witness 45 acp
and for concealed carry use, hornady 230 grain hollow points
https://www.targetsportsusa.com/hor...ain-xtp-jacketed-hollow-point-9096-p-729.aspx

this is a very nice 380 which seems to function reasonably well,
but even after at least three years of practice, he has a very difficult time consistently keeping three
rapidly fired shots in a 11"x 8" typing paper, sized printed paper target at even 7 yards,
now obviously these are totally different size and power level handguns, but even at 25 yards the EAA 45 has a little problem keeping 3 fast shots in a similar-sized target
now I can significantly tighten that group if I take a second or two to look over the sights vs point and blaze away as fast as the trigger can be pulled.
so I mentioned to him that I thought he was at somewhat of a disadvantage, he simply stated that he envisioned any confrontation,
he might be confronted with as being at arms reach distances.
I then mentioned the fact that Id killed several deer and at least 6-7 hogs over the years with my EAA 45acp,
and at ranges up to 40-50 yards, and just to get a response, I asked him if he had ever considered hunting with his pistol?
his immediate response was that he had zero intention of and had no doubt what so ever ,
that his 380 would be totally useless at 40-50 yards on anything like a deer, or a hog.
personally I can,t imagine depending on a 3" 380 that I could not hit $HIT WITH, in a life & death fight,
I know from previous hunts that a 45 acp is hardly a sledgehammer on hogs like my 44 mag revolver, with a 310 grain hard cast bullet is,
but it does work reasonably well.

How are the EAA brands of guns? I've seen them all the time in magazines but don't know anybody who has one to form an opinion. I now carry a Sig 365 for everyday carry and if conditions allow sometimes a bigger 1911 in 10mm I also carry others depending the flavor of the day. On a different note since I was barred from working I have been prepping brass for 5 days now resizeing and cleaning and getting everything organized running brass through the wet tumbler then drying and polishing putting in order its amazing how much brass a person can collect over time I need to find someone to give some oddball brass that I have and don't know how I got it like 270 I don't ever remember ever shooting a 270 but I do have about 200 brass cases for it a few other oddballs a bunch of 357 Sig that I may do something with because my son has a 357 Sig

EAA makes a very nice all metal
full size 45 ACP chambered witness pistol that I can easily recommend
I have zero personal experience with the polymer versions or compact versions, or the 10mm version,
but can recommend the FULL SIZE WITNESS 45 acp without reservation
be SURE TO GET THE WONDER FINISH , all steel VERSION

as mines very consistently accurate and very durable
and its been trouble-free for 25 years, be aware its an older design, and while 100% reliable and very ergonomic and accurate
easy to clean and disassemble etc, it lacks a de-cocker
I feel it MILES ahead of a colt govt 45 in all respects, certainly in accuracy from what Ive seen,
I have several friends that own either the 45 acp or similar 10mm stainless finish witness pistols none-has any complaints,
but you might want to, visit a local dealer,to look one over, and get a feel for it before purchase
if the 10mm was available at the time I purchased mine Id have gotten two, one in both calibers
and most likely never have purchased my glock #20 which I consider marginally inferior to the EAA in ergonomics, and for sure in the EAA consistent accuracy comparison.

be aware this is not full size, its the compact version,in the first video
ID HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GET THE FULL SIZE IN CALIBER 10 MM

Thanks Grumpy I think I'm going to look into a 10mm one as soon as this crazyness passes us by
not a good time to be gun shopping but if you would happen to see one reasonably priced PM me or post it up I look in on this site almost daily

I'll look for a good deal on a 10mm version and if I find one,
I'll let you know and may pick up one myself if I can afford too!
they usually list for about $700,
but
typically sell new closer to $ 550-$600

witness-steel-full-size-tanfoglio_l.jpg

http://eaacorp.com/guns/handguns/witness-steel-full-size-tanfoglio-52

btw they also make a very accurate longer slide version
(which Im really impressed with after shooting a friends)

witness-hunter-tanfoglio_l.png

http://eaacorp.com/guns/handguns/witness-hunter-tanfoglio-109
these typically list for near $1400 but generally can be purchased closer to $1275, last time I checked

I would take a long slide 10mm if given a choice when I was 10mm shopping Remington does have a 10mm 1911 with a 6 inch barrel but I'm not willing to take a chance on a Remington with everything I've heard and read about the issues with them

yeah ID trust EAA, especially with the long slide hunter,
having seen and shot one, before,
ITS FRANKLY IMPRESSIVE! far more,
they go through and hand fit those hunter/target pistols,
you can see that in how smooth they feel when you play with one awhile,
especially after it wears in a bit and its well lubed
YEAH most of the guys use moly spray on pistol internals and bores

I'm looking at them now I doubt that I'll buy one at this moment unless one comes along that I can't pass up. With the way things are going right now I don't want to spend money on something that I don't really need

what I'm amazed at is the Glock crowd I have not a bad word to say about a Glock,
and I own several and they are what they are but there are better choices out there I have a friend who is a die hard Glock fan until he went to the range with me and shot some of my Sigs now he is a Sig fan another person I know wont even shoot a Sig to compare the 2 but they both make good guns its just a choice you make some like red and some like blue

Yeah, I carry a glock #20 10 mm most of the time, its dependable , durable and low maintenance,
thats the ,main reason, that and theres far more support for glocks, holsters, magazines are easy to find,
Id prefer to carry a EAA witness 10mm or S&W 1006,
witness-hunter-tanfoglio_l.png

S&W 1006 10mm
f2f7.jpg

good luck finding the same extensive selection in lower cost magazines, and holsters.
thats a damn shame as both the EAA witness 10mm or S&W 1006 are more consistently accurate in my opinion

I'll give you that Grumpy you can find anything you want for a Glock I've even turned my Glock 40s to 9mm my G27 I wouldn't shoot much because it hurt my hand shooting it after converting it to 9mm I take it to the range all the time and if I want a 40 cal. I just change the barrel back to a 40 in 30 seconds

I just did it EAA Witness #999220 it says Stainless Steel and Wonder finish 4.5 inch bbl. I thought I'd give it a try and I couldn't pass on the price it was quite a bit less than most dealers and in stock

you failed to name the cartridge your new toys chambered for,
yeah I looked up the part number and see its a 10mm,
so once you get it, clean it up, and lube it,
then,
go out and fire a few boxes of cartridges let us know your impressions

Its going to be a couple weeks I'm sure I was going to wait but the price was right to jump on it now yes it is 10mm I thought I mentioned that in an earlier post right now 10mm is the caliber of choice for me right now I only have a couple in that caliber and I am really impressed with it there is most likely a few more in my future and a G20 is on the short radar

I need to find a way to make some extra cash. this looks like a darn nice toy

The Hunter 6 inch barrel was the first one that caught my eye but I found one for a price that was hard to pass on and it was in stock and that is the biggest obstical right now in these crazy times is finding anything that you can get I fully expected to wait til this insanity was over before buying any firearm but I guess I was in the right place at the right time. A while back I got two 22 cal. rifles for the grand kids and what I have to do to pick them up is nuts and if they weren't for the kids they could keep them

I went to the range for a couple hours today and run my EAA 10mm if I had to use one word to describe it I'd say impressive and I can't come up with anything that I didn't like and especially the trigger. I've never had a new gun that felt like it was broken in before I shot it and the trigger reminds me of my Sig 226 you really don't have to pull it again almost just a hair and its reset and firing I think I'm really going to like this and I have a 9mm on my short radar list and I loaded up some 10mm with Blue Dot 11 gr. with a 165 Accura HP bullet they shoot good in the EAA , the Ruger 1911 and the Sig 1911 I did have some Hornaday XTP 155 gr. bullets also loaded over 11 gr Blue Dot and I will be looking for some quantity of both bullets and I need some more Blue Dot thats the fastest I emptied a jug of powder do you think 155 bullet is to light for the 10mm
