the holley carb i told you about grumpy

this what i have and i just want to know if this will work with my setup and if its not to big. And if it can work what do i need to setup and what parts do i order?

I think thats a 4010 series HOLLEY, thats I think,discontinued,
those were never popular because about 90% of the holley parts from the more common carbs won,t interchange, they were not a bad carb , but they are not all that common, or easily tuned from what I remember

so i am probaby better off with the one i have now. awhile back i took my car too this guy who new about carbs and he told me that he thinks i should get some spacer plate to put under the carb becuase he think it gets so hot that the fuel burns off in the carb before it gets too the intake. could that be true?

that's very...very unlikely, but not totally impossible, its far more likely the floats are set wrong or the carbs got crud in its internal passages or the fuel pressure to low or to high

OK well my fuel presure is at 6 psi. is that too high?

it may be,....if youve got a return style fuel pressure regulator, and a fuel pressure gauge to verify it with, Id suggest turning the pressure down to 4.5-5 psi for a while as a quick test to see if that changes anything for the better, the dead head style fuel pressure regulators are notoriously inaccurate

what is a dead head style one look like.. i have a holley fuel regulator and holley fuel pump.

dead head or non-return style typically have only an in and out port

IVE NEVER seen one produce consistent pressure results, but I have seen them become a restriction to flow

return style typically have 3-4 ports
installed correctly with the correct line size these produce remarkably consistent pressure
