the trucks just not running well

Motor has been replaced. Carburetor has been swapped. Missing most of the emissions equipment. Runs like I do when my shoelaces are tied together.

I'm looking for ideas on how to get it to run like Forrest Gump back in vietnam. Heck, I'd just like to get it run like when his knee braces fell off..

good advice ,start with the basics,
don,t assume anything,
in most cases youll find where a fairly new engine runs poorly,
something is incorrectly installed or poorly adjusted,
so VERIFY EVERYTHING, EVEN THE STUFF YOUR SURE OF!

READ THE LINKS POSTED BELOW AND ASK QUESTIONS

verify the fuel pressure, check your carb adjustments,
verify your float levels,
verify your ignition advance,
verify your timing,
verify your valve adjustment,
do a compression check,
verify the carb opens fully,
check for vacuum leaks,
and be damn sure to verify the exhaust back pressure,
and that you don,t have partly clogged catalytic converters or mufflers.
and verify the cams lobes are not worn.
and for darn sure verify the cams been degreed into place correctly, and you've verified TDC
and used a degree wheel correctly during the cam install process

post clear color pictures of all the spark plugs as they can tell you a good deal about timing and carb adjustment

and please a few more details about when where and at what rpms and load levels the engines not running up to your expectations?
obviously info on the trucks drive train, transmission, rear gear ratio, tire size etc. will help

don,t assume anything,
