I don't know how this might be accomplished,
but I sure hope that the idea of the NFA being either totally dissolved becomes a fact,
or at least, the agency has its power very significantly reduced in scope and its power reach etc. vastly reduced!
items like short barrel rifles and suppressors should be much more wildly available.
and would be very unlikely to cause any safety issues and suppressor's might reduce hearing losses
now I doubt they will revert to allowing joe average to walk into his local gun-shop , and purchase a machine gun.
like was the case back in the early 1930s, when they cost what at that time was several months pay . to half a years pay for your average worker,
to which they added a $200 tax stamp , and the need for your local sheriff to approve the purchase,
as a requirement simply as a way to discourage the items sale.(AND PROVIDE ADDED GOVERNMENT REVENUE)
the truth is that a high quality belt fed machine gun, currently costs about $7700-$9000 depending on options and accessories and a browning 50 caliber costs the ARMY ETC, a bit over $20K-$23K each
but of course most people will think about converting an AR15 to an M16 and the kits WITH THE CORRECT PARTS WOULD COST ABOUT $1400
yeah they can made to be semi functional and fire full auto for less but durability is vastly reduced
as the common, semi-auto civilian accessible AR15 receiver and bolt group are not usually built to the same specs as they are not designed to endure nearly similar abuse, in fact the ar15 bolt and receiver are purposely modified to make conversion to full auto, much harder
