I destroyed my timing light today. I over loaded a shelf above my tool boxes and it all crashed earlier today. My 3/4” socket set fell on top of the gun box and dwell meter.
I’ve been searching through this forum for a multi use gun once mentioned, but I can’t find it.

I don’t understand how it works but somehow this one you can dial in the timing? And it has a built in digital tachometer.
Now Brian, I know you buy the best tools out there but I’m not making a living by these tools and certainly not seeing anything near the usage you do so I don’t need the best nor spend that much. Can you or anyone here point me in the direction to find a respectable but not expensive multi use gun?

Hotrod magazine did a test on Timing lights years back.
Only the Snap On 2261 Digital Timing light is dead accurate.

Ok, I opened the bid. What is the fair ending price?
I see you.
$200.00.
I would go to 201.99 or $202.99.
Just so you don't have to Babysit the auction constant but I usually do anyhow.
Those Auction Automatic bidder Sniper Programs never worked for me. Still lost the auction.
That one is Real nice and clean hardly used any.

They were around $400.00 new in 1987-1990's dollars.

People sneak in last few seconds so I always bid another dollar or or 2 and end with .99 cents

They are not used on any modern cars or trucks.
Vintage cars and trucks only now.
Chevy Vortech 350 SBC Like my 1999 Chevy Tahoe last capable of using a Snap On MT 2261 Digital Advance Timing light on.

Say if you place a 2nd Bid of $205.99 on top of the starting bid $X.99 your Set to your Maximum amount you want to spend on that item.
Ebay Automatically bids up to your Maximum amount if another person bids on too.

Hi Brian, I won the bid on the SnapOn 2261, funny that my birthdate is 2/2/61! See, I listen to what you say! I think this is the 7 th item you recommended to get and I have, this time I wasn’t planning on spending all that much for a timing light.

Hey Brian! I got the timing light today.
BUT . . . It’s supposed to be a model MT2261A What I got is a MT1261A
I don’t like switches! Do you know the difference? Did they send me the older model?

It's the same model I have.
I have called mine the 2261 forever.
It might be the 1261, have to look at the case and my timing light later today

Hook it up to the 1968 Catalina 400 and see if it works

There has to be a difference otherwise what would SnapOn have a different model number?

The MT1261A is Red. The MT2261A is Black.
The eBay listed 2261 but I got a 1261 Something is fishy, I don’t like things switched and I don’t believe this is a innocent mistake. One came before the other and one has to be an improvement over the other.D0FCD7B9-4844-4842-B79F-B371382409B4.jpeg285E6A83-0678-4E37-9B3E-F794533580D0.jpeg

The Red One is the Original Snap On 1261A I looked it's what I have.
Works Fantastic.
Made I'm the USA 100%

Black one is 2261 that came out around 1998 year I recall .
Seen on a box on Ebay Made in Mexico.

Think You got the better Red one.
Made in the USA .
MINE STILL WORKS NEARLY 30 YEARS LATER.
You want to complain do it through the Ebay seller.
I didn't sell to you.
Try it out if it works you got a sound deal 200% I think.
You got the Original most famous most accurate timing light ever made Bar None.

Brian Reeland.

“ . . . . . . . . . . . . .You want to complain do it through the Ebay seller. I didn't sell to you. . . . . . . . . . .”
Brian Reeland.

Why must you turn things around and make it sound personal. I only asked you about these lights because you are so familiar with them. Before I go anywhere about these models I want to find out as much as possible about them. I haven’t found anything through a Google search - THEN I asked you what could be the difference Between the two. I have yet to complain, you’ll know it when I do.
