Too much air flow?

Has anyone ever seen the stock GM filter for the Duramax? I think it can block atomic particles!
I've been hearing that problem codes are showing as if there wasn't any filter installed if the stock filter is replaced with a higher flow K&N filter. I need to increase the poor mpg, I already took care of the exhaust with a Banks Monster 5" system.

The only problem with using a K & N air filter is if you over oil it after cleaning in K & N soap solution.
The excess oil will get onto the Mass Air Flow sensor Hot wire element thus throwing the sensor out of calibration. A code set.
If you dont over oil the K & N air filter no issues.

I have used a K & N air filter on my 1987 C4 Corvette roadster since February 2007. I have had ZERO issues.
There is a factory BOSCH Hot Wire Mass Air Flow Sensor intact.

Its a Big Truck & it weighs over 6,000 lbs.
It will take fuel to move it from a dead stop & keep it going down the highway.
The Areo dynamics of all pickups is terrible.
About the same as a MACK Semi truck.

Mini Pickups of the past with 4 cylinder & 5 - speed manual transmissions gave excellent MPG.
My old 1987 Ford Ranger with 2.3 Liter SOHC EFI 4cylinder "Lima" engine gave 32 mpg on the highway 55- 75 mph.
In town 25-28 mpg.
4.10 Gears in the Rear Differential.

I bought this diesel for better mpg (as many people kept saying). My 2005 6.0 gas fed got 18 combined, this one is just under 15 consistently. It was suggested by someone that I delete the EGR and I'll get better mpg, is that true?

Actually it weighs over 7,400 lbs. I know trucks are like driving a wall against the wind but I should be able to get what others are getting for gas mileage and perhaps even better since I've done mods that are known to help.

You have an Allison Transmission Issue..........Repair or replace the Allison Trans.
It may be time to trade off the Duramax Truck.
LOL.
New Purchase or Car payment.

Yeah, just what I need, another $600 /month payment for 72 months (0 down, 0 interest with employee pricing) this time I would get a 2015 1500HD fully loaded gas engine.

I have kept this truck much longer than I ever kept any truck before. I use to get a new truck ever year or two, guess I got lazy.
I thought these Allisons were supposed to be great and strong. How can I have problems when I hardly use it, only towed with it less than a dozen times, never off road or even purposely spun the tires.

some days in my diesel audi i average 45 mpg and other days i average 25 on the same route... all in how you treat the little pedal on the right
