Does it (really) matter which brand and or composition of the trans gasket you use if RTV is applied to both sides (around pan surface and the side of the gasket that is in contact with the transmission?

There are several choices in both brands and composition - Felpro, Mr. Gasket, . . . . Fiber, rubber and cork, ect. Prices range from $5 with a 90 day warranty, under $10 with a 1 year warranty and $25 for a re-useable gasket. Comments?

Fluid recommended? Any additives?

Is there a standard amount (known) of trans fluid needed to replace lost fluid and replaced filter in a TH400? Last time I went by the shop manual the fluid level was too high on dipstick high mark after filling and checking at operating temperature.
 
Is there one particular brand or type of replacement trans filter that may be preferred, or does that even matter for a trans?
 
I roughly measure what comes out of the transmission to get in the ballpark to fill it.
I like Wix filters but use others as well.
I like to use Dexron 2, not higher, in old types of transmissions, Sometimes type F, straight or mixed with Dex untill i like the shift feel.
Reusable gaskets with aluminum pans, distorted stock pans may work better with soft gaskets. JMHO.
 
I also use Wix filters for everything fluid and car I own.

I'm using Dexron VI in my TBucket trans now. It's also backwards compatible with all Dexron
trans fluid. For the gasket, I always put sealer on the pan side only. That way if you have to
replace the gasket, you can do the clean up on the bench. If the sealer is on the trans side, then
you are upside down scraping the old gasket off while the fluid is dripping in your face.
