Can anybody tell me what was original paint in the Pontiac trunk, was it some form of speckled color? Right now it's a Gloss Black and I don't really car for it.

Yes it should be Speckled GM Trunk paint Richard.

Does anybody think it's not a worthwhile "restoration" (to use a term loosely) to paint this trunk? I just like to see a uniform look inside the trunk and do so with a widely known look.

Some of the Old Pontiacs had the Trunk Area painted Body Color Richard.
I don't recall what Year they started Splatter paint.
My 1963 Grand Prix has the trunk painted body color.
My 1970 TA. is Splatter paint.
Customize as you see fit I guess.
