Tuning a TBucket Dart 400 cuin Engine

Yes I used the Mahle rings that came with their pistons. They were a file-to-fit style ring.

I didn't write it down, but I would guess 500 miles.

That might have been too soon Rick.
For your next oil change, you could switch to a outstanding rated conventional oil that either contains ZDDP or use an additive.
Risolone has what looks to be a good choice.

Will it work after using Synthetic oil for several thousand miles?

Royal Purple does make a break in oil, see below.

At this point, you have nothing to lose, and hopefully everything (sealed rings) to gain.
Swap the oil and drive it like you stole it.

Today I got the Royal Purple break-in oi from Amazon.com . Since it's close to the end of the cruising season in Oklahoma, I'm going to change the oil and filter when I put it up for the winter. It will be spring of 2018 when I get to see if it will help the rings seat better.

This summer I put 3050 miles on the oil so far, so maybe a another 200 - 300 mile before winter sets in.

Swap the oil and drive it like you stole it.
That would be NO PROBLEM if the wife stayed home! But I have to play both sides of the
fence, if I want to spend money on the TBucket. hehehe !!! Oh and the police!

yeah, one more in a long list of reasons why I chose florida as a place to retire, the weather year round, most years is rather tolerant of out door driving.
yeah we have "brutal winters" where the temps occasionally drop into the mid or low 30F range for 2-4 days,
providing me with some entertainment as the natives run around like the worlds ending as a result...
but the only real P.I.T.A. is about every 9-10 years,
we get a hurricane and have to deal with the resulting property damage and a couple months of clouds of mosquitoes.
and property taxes are rather high,
but at least theres no state income taxes

I had originally planed to retire in northern Texas but the wife seemed dead set on staying close to her family
