but it sure sounds like the home owners gun (amazingly a glock 9mm)
was not well maintained
I think he might want to buy a benelli or H&K 12 ga

the S90 is an excellent shotgun in my experience

Fox 35 reports that the homeowner was playing video games when he heard glass breaking just before 1:00 a.m. He retrieved a gun and shot one suspect in a hallway, then fired again when a second suspect allegedly appeared in the hallway with a gun.

Sheriff Chris Nocco says the suspect fired his gun, then it jammed. The homeowner shot him. Then a third suspect appeared in the hallway. The homeowner shot the third suspect as well.

The homeowner’s gun then jammed and he went to grab another gun. When he returned he saw that the third suspect had gotten up and fled the scene.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that the first gun the homeowner retrieved was a Glock 19 and the second was a Kriss Vector 10mm semi-automatic rifle.

Two of the three suspects died at the scene. The third was hospitalized.

yeah Im glad the home owner prevailed without getting injured
and there's now a few less dregs of society... out there breaking into homes!

I'd like to know the story on the Glock how dirty or what shape was it and the ammo in

yes, maintenance/cleanliness on the pistol,
having the magazine in good condition, and of course,
having excellent ammo are all mandatory to have a flawless function... even on a glock.
I once purchased a 45acp colt government (GI) pistol from a guy that swore it was a totally unreliable P.O.S.
he said he tried several brands of ammo, with the same results.
I expected it to be a magazine-related malfunction, so I swapped to a new magazine and that had zero effect,
I pulled it down for inspection... I doubt the pistol had ever been cleaned.
I replaced the barrel, after looking through it,
(it looked like a dirty black, chimney with several bricks missing )
and main recoil spring, and extractor (that looked bent/rusted,
and after a good cleaning, that helped a good deal,
it functioned flawlessly, it never malfunctioned if good ammo was used.
.. I traded it several decades later to a I guy I know,
that still carries it most of the time.

I keep all my guns clean and oiled maybe to a fault but they all work when I need them to they all get cleaned after use unless I know I will be shooting it shortly and I shoot every gun that I own at least once a summer so they are all cycled and cleaned I'm getting 2 new deer rifles together one I've had for a couple years but could never get it where I wanted it so I sent it back to Savage and they sent me a new rifle and Nikon replaced the scope now I can keep it on target its a model 116 stainless that I'm now happy with then I bought a new Tikka 7mm08 that I really like how it shoots but it is a Tikka and I kind of expect it to shoot good so I'm ready for deer season except for my tree stand that they tore down to cap a gas well so I haven't got it up in the tree yet so for the first time in 40 years I wont be hunting from my tree

one accurate rifle your very familiar with,
and "yes that requires constant practice,"
is all that needs to be in your inventory,
but no one does that... everyone buys a couple rifles in big-game calibers,
and with most of us over time , the number gets a bit excessive.
personally, I'd suggest you own at least one large game cartridge rifle in a / semi military style rifle be in any collection
and personally, I think a 7.62/308 cartridge is preferred if limited to one defensive rifle

I clean mine after every time at the range! I usually put about a 100 rounds(each) through the 2 semi autos and about 50 through the 22 revolver!
