Unforgiven Project

We happened to stop by the H/F store last night and I decided to pickup this small soda blaster.
I was going to pick up the 40 pounder but I thought that it would use to much air to use it because the delivery hose was quite a bit larger.

I have a H/F 29 gallon 150 psi compressor . it has been a great compressor . It worked great for when I painted my truck,
but I have noticed that it runs low on air when I use my die grinder for any length of time.

I thought that this little soda blaster with the smaller outlet line would give me more working time.
The only thing I did not like about this 15 pounder when I was looking at the display model was that the fill neck looked kinda small for when you have to fill the bottle compared to the larger unit.

I wanted something to blast aluminum intakes and smaller pieces . I also thought that this might be a nice unit to clean my blower housing.

They did not have a spray gun to attach to the end of the hose though... so I am trying to locate one somewhere.

Will A SAND BLAST gun work with the soda blaster, or do they require a special gun?

I will give reports on how this bottle works in a few weeks when I get ready to use it.
YES... I will be using this outside of my shop in the driveway. I have seen a pic of some poor bast**d who used it in his shop!

His entire shop was covered in Baking Soda!! LOL o_O

From what I can tell, that unit does not use a gun. The ceramic nozzle is at the end of that hose. That's it. No gun.

My Mom always said I was special....o_O
I think I may be picking up on her meaning.:D

YOU ARE CORRECT Mike!!
I guess I should have at least taken it out of the box before
I got to excited about a darn gun..

Mike.... I sure hope you pay really close attention to my engine build ... I may get the darn thing together and realize that I forgot to
install the CRANK!!! :rolleyes::)

here is a pic of it OUT of the box..

I'm always watching. Keep posting pics with your build - I don't miss much.
Your compressor should have no trouble keeping up with this blaster.
Make sure the air is DRY.

Thanks Mike.

I will get some pics of the air dryer I made with copper tubing and some down legs with ball valves to drain.
I had to take it off the wall when I finished the interior of the barn and have not put it back up yet.

There is also a separate canister dryer where I plug my air line into.
I used this set-up when I painted my truck...and it worked flawlessly.

I was trying to get a pic of my H/F compressor for you guys but I can connect to the site for some reason.
It's a decant size compressor. I want to say it's a 29 gallon upright and it goes up to 150 psi... I only limit it to 125 psi max tho. Scares me to go higher.

if your compressor is rated at 5.9 cfm at 90 psi thats OPTIMUM flow not whats reaching the soda blaster
if your soda blaster is rated at 7 cfm @ 90 psi thats the minimum that produces OPTIMUM performance
your only going to get decent performance for a minute or two at peak pressure ,
you would need a second or a larger compressor
I had a very similar issue , so I had to purchase a second compressor to be able to run air ratchets almost continually

Well ain't that a kick in the pants!

This may take some serious planning on how and when I would be able to purchase another compressor..
Especially after last weeks ordeal with me wanting that VETTE!

You should practice Kanye's moves so when she asks you "Where in the hell did you get that
idea", you will be ready !!!

You could always add a second tank for more air capacity. You would get a little longer time to blast until the compressor kicked on to recharge.

we lost maniac, I really hated to ban someone that provided good insight at times
but constant confrontational posts
and repeated warnings had ZERO EFFECT,
he obviously was not willing to play nice with others

I had save an old compressor for years thinking along those lines... I ended up throwing it out along with some other items that I thought I would use..
but like most items, They just sit there and collect dust and use up storage space.
AND as usual.... I find a use for an item just as soon as it's gone. never fails!

I need to finish my air plumbing now that my walls have been finished ... I am currently running a 50' rubber hose off the compressor.
I am getting tired of tripping over it.

So I have been doing alot of research on the FI-TECH and SUPER SNIPER EFI systems. I have found that I am going to have to spend at least another $1000 on top of the EFI unit. I will need to upgrade to a much larger fuel pump, a new regulator, and possibly need to switch to a crank sensor
( if I was to opt for the timing control unit). The fact that I know nothing about EFI and the stories I have read about how hard of a time guys are having setting them up on e85 fuel just makes me think I should stick to the original plan and have a carb custom built for my motor.
This alone would save me around $2000.
I think that kind of money could be spent wiser on other items I may need. (like an upgraded transmission).

My wife got invited to a Tigers Baseball game tonight and won't be home till mid-night. This will allow me to get back into the barn and get re-organized so I can start to fit my motor back together.
