Hardblocking makes oil temps go 60-100 F hotter.

-08 AN lines for your oil cooler could be restrictive. I suggest -10 or bigger.
Have to go high volume with an external oil cooler to be safe.
A Hero Truck or car wins the Race on Ragged Edge of Death.Brian.... you are correct in almost everything you stated about my truck except... you used the word BEAT.
Yes.. this motor will be pushed as hard as a nascar in the final lap running neck and neck for the win..95% of it life.
But there is a difference between running on the edge and (beating on) the motor.
Yes I do spin 7000 rpm (under load).
You are correct with "no safe zone, true racing"
I have read that thread about 6 times over that Grumpy has posted. Along with other articles.
I am just over whelmed with information overload at the moment..Everything makes sense,
But I have to step away for abit without spending money
yet, and rationalize what is best for my style of driving.
Believe it or not your last reply kinda kicked my mind back to what I am building for. I just don't want to waste money our worst.. over or under build for my sport.
Thank you Grumpy for the responds. I have read darn near everything you have posted.
By the way Brian.... What is a HERO truck?
Again... we are all good!
Are you going to perform any of the typical oil system mods like, crankshaft thrust bearing, distributor gear, timingbut I'm in the air still on what HV pump to use.
Ouch !Rick is not Racing any.
Cruising.
Raced once years back didn't do so well.
I think I am going to use the pump that Rick used.
That BBC pump looks like it takes around 10 hp to operate.
That is ridiculous.
You can spin over just fine with a Milwaukee electric drill.
Then a 10% over volume oil pump in my experience should work out about right if you are runningHello Rick, yes i'm going to do the mods that you have layed out on your motor.
Nice Socks !!! ..... Hehehe !!!
Grumpy posted a link today. But how many RPM does a drill turn. Ten HP seems to be a reasonable HP to drive the oil pump. You would
have to know the viscosity of the oil and at what RPM before you could determine the HP required.
