A supercharged, V10 Viper is coming to take it’s rightful place as the top dog.

Reports are coming in that new Supercharged V10 engines have been delivered to Chrysler.

Not to be outdone by the 707HP Hellcat, a supercharged V10 Viper will easily surpass the Hellcat’s 707 HP, and will presumably give new Viper owners even more horsepower scalability in regards to aftermarket performance. Can we expect a 750, or 800 HP 2016 Viper? The Viper already has the suspension and handling down. As it stands, the Viper T/A is the fastest production car to ever go around Laguna Seca. That includes the Ferrari 458. The Aventador. The Mp4-12c.

The Viper is definitely a driver’s car, something that is lost on those who call the car overpriced or too expensive. The Viper may be unorthodox in it’s approach to balance and handling, but those who can master this car receive a great reward. Hence, the track record at Laguna Seca

But in regards to straight-line performance, the Viper is outmatched compared to the ZR1 Corvette and Hellcat Challenger. However, it looks as if things are looking up for the king snake.

We are hoping that the new Viper will at least hit the 750HP mark, as anything higher than that will require a strengthened transmission – as proven by the Challenger Hellcat (which uses the Viper transmission).

From Allpar:

“Why not shoot for, say, a stunning 1,000 horsepower, one may ask? Because that would require a new and expensive transmission and differential, more substantial cooling upgrades, much more incoming air, and quite possibly a new body to deal with the added stresses. Cars are systems, and upgrading the engine often requires upgrades to a large number of other components. The engineering and production costs would skyrocket. The Tremec TR-6060 in the Viper can handle, at most, 650 lb-ft of torque — no coincidence that the Hellcat maxes out at that number (which is also roughly the capacity of the ZF eight-speed). Even the Tremec TR-9008 can only handle 664 lb-ft. Tremec does have a “Magnum XL” which is good for 700 lb-ft, but would require changes to work in the Viper.”

Update: Rumor has it that this information about a Supercharged Viper was supposed to be revealed at the HOA homecoming, but Chrysler didn’t want to spoil the Hellcat’s moment in the sun. There is also speculation that SRT will be offer a retrofit Supercharger kit for older Vipers as well.

Phil , Grumpy, & Myself might actually be put back to work next year.
Not is all lost in GM CAMP.
Its bad yes.
Twin Turbo can surpass all.
I showed that recent with 2200 HP TT Pontiac V8.
Approach 1000 Hp mark takes best parts.
Drivetrain too.

talk about upping the ante... gm released the specs on the new c7 z06 too early with no working models.

can wait to see what the new zr1 is gonna have... maybe the first 1000 hp factory american car?

They still have to build a Transmission & Rear Diff to take 1,000 HP.
No easy feat by GM.
Stuck on IRS Rear. Almost like Good Luck.
GM tends cheapen out on stuff.
Unlike Ferrari or Lambo.
Dodge Mopar used good stuff back in the day. Dana 60. 727 Auto Torqueflite trans. Gave Hotroders & Racers something good to work with for decades & several generations.

i still wanna get the better half a dart or a belvedere (gtx clone?) but it would probably be with a small block LA motor

The Stroker 360 LA engine to 410 LA is a Bad Motherfucker...
Sbc Killer.
Power like a Pontiac 455 built for Race.

So whats the big deal? I've got an old Hemi in the shed that will easily dyno at over 2000hp. Of course the fuel costs about $100 a gallon. and the engine needs to be rebuilt after about 5 minutes run time. that's why it has been sitting in the shed. I'm too old to afford to go racing like that any more. :(

Nothing Really.
But the Hellcat makes 707Hp on pump gasoline.
Drive the car across the country 2,000 miles easy.
Has a factory warrenty.
If you have a job, credit, & bank gives you a loan for $60k the Hellcat is yours.
Go Racing.
That's All.

I can,t understand the fascination with this "HELLCAT" especially at a $60K plus cost

at roughly 4440 lb plus lets assume a 200 lb driver thats 4640 lbs divided by 707 hp for a power to weight ratio of about 6.56 lbs per horse power

now think a minute, theres options that will cause you to need to think and work, but for example, ricks T-bucket weights about 2000 lbs with him sitting in it, and should once correctly tuned easily put out close to or a bit more than 500hp, that would be a power to weight ratio of about 4 lbs per horse power,or about a 40% better power to weight ratio, making it easily a mid 10 second car with the correct suspension and slicks, and hes still go room to improve further

got a C4 corvette, you could buy a lsx 454 crate engine ,that has 770hp or you could build something similar , youll have a car that weights about 3800lbs with you in it with an engine with 770hp that would be a power to weight ratio of about 4.9 lbs per horse power

yes you could even buy a new corvette, and with a few mods have in my opinion a better looking car with similar power, but at that point your spending more cash, then theres the 720 hp 572 big block crate engine that could be supercharged, and easily reach 800 plus hp

Once a Dana 60 or Pontiac 9.3 rear 4-link the C4 Vette has a nice Edge.
Any Engine or trans fits.
Resale value is still low on base models so Hack away making it all fit together.

Something just don't add up with the Hellcats 4,450 # spec weight .
I had my 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix weighed on a Local CAT CERTIFIED SCALE in the past.
About 1998. Printed paper copy hand signed.
4230 pounds.
1/2 tank of gasiline. 12 gallons 87 octane.
455 Pontiac all iron engine.
1965 GTO Tripower installed.
Turbo 400 Trans I installed to replace the original Slim Jim RotoHydramatic 10 Auto I blew up Racing around.
I was seated in the car. I weighed 225lbs at the time.
Thinking Dodge is Fudging scale weight numbers.
