Hello from here. Been reading this site for a good while now.

Noticed it had gone to where you couldn't read it unless you registered, so I did.
Always meant to since it kept coming up in searches, just never got around to it.

Getting back into racing, putting my BBC 79 C-10 back on the track. Been
sitting a long time. Currently getting almost done with the rust repairs on the
bed, then it's on to the motor...the fun part for me.
My kids have never seen it run, so that's a big part of the motivation for me.

well, we're glad you joined, why not post a few pictures of your projects

Welcome from Western Pa. I lived in Youngsville NC for a year if I remember real close to Wake Forest

Yes, we have a WF address but the part of our neighborhood we're in is in Franklin County, so we're basically Youngsville. They are right next door to each other, WF and Youngsville, that is.

20180428_194256.jpg Working on my 79 short bed race truck. My Dad bought this from the Pontiac dealership where he was the body shop manager in 1980. Came with a 454. It was pretty fast for back then, and when the cam lobe wore out in the 70k mile range, he had it rebuilt...then took it to the drag strip and of course it wasn't as fast as he thought it would be and from there it snowballed like everyone else's projects do.
I've had it since the early 90's. Been sitting a long time. My kids have never seen it run, so I'm working to fix that.
Decided to do what I hate the most, first....the body work. The bed was rusted pretty bad. I'm getting pretty close to being done with that, then it's on to the more fun stuff, like the engine.
This is what it looked like when we started

And what it used to be like:

Documenting body work and welding is definitely of interest... In a couple of years, I expect to have to tackle that problem...

Looks like your son is ready to drive it !

You should start a new thread and document your build.

Just wanted to say, I haven't left. Life has been happening and I've not worked on my truck in awhile, but about to get back on it.
Still reading the forums and learning. I knew plenty before I joined, but I've always thought there was more and more to find out, and I have to say I've been right about that, lol. Plenty to learn.
