Wondering step by step what I need to do to convert to carb in my 84 Vette, what can I eliminate , what do I need to buy etc,,

Most guys have used a Low Profile Dual Plane Intake like Edelbrock Performer.
For hood clearance when closed.
A few have done it with a Performer RPM.
750 cfm Q-jets typical used.
A Holley 4bbl could be used. 650-750 cfm and have great results.
Also need a drop base aircleaner.

You will need a provision to connect up the 700R4 Trans TV Throttle valve cable for the trans.
PATC Transmissions is one source.

A Low pressure Holley fuel pressure regulator is a good addition.

On Tuned port Corvettes a few have claimed 300-310 HP just switching to a carb & dual plane intake with stock camshaft.
Results will vary.

The stock ECM will not be used of course.
No VATS Security system on 1984, Passkey 1 started on 1986 C4 Corvette models.

Will need an Old School HEI distributor for a carb or aftermarket ignition of your choice.

Gauges will still work fine.

But the instant fuel mileage meter in the dash wont work any more.
ECM & CCM worked together.

Very simple to do.
Most here choose to use EFI yet.
To upgrade costs $$$$.
$2,000-$10,000 when you look at the overall grand scheme of car package.

Carb swap is simple & very cost effective.

only thing I am very unsure of doing is the TV cable adjustment for the trans, whats needed for that if I am using a edelbrock carb , as far as cable linkage or brackets and is it very hard to set up

Here is how to year date a 700R4/4L60 transmission. It can also be used to date 4L60E transmissions if you continue the date progression. 4L60E's use the letter D as the 3rd digit of the 3 letter model code, where 700R4/4L60 uses a M. To go into the 4L60E years just go up from the 1993 code, 1994 =4 1995 = 5 etc. Just looked at 98 GM repair manual and 98 and later trans, the 1st number after the 3 letter code will be the build date of the trans. Example- if 8 is the 1st # in code for 98 model year, after the 3 letters could be a 7 or 8 for the build date.
