what racers did you look up too as you grew up

Arnie Beswick.
I started off as a Pontiac Guy & still am today.
Arnie was talked about by my uncles with their old musclecars in the 1970's.
I love Corvettes too. C4's because they are forgotten performance cars by most today.

I could never get enough of Smokey Yunick Tech articles growing up.
I still recall him writing on Popular Mechanics Auto Tech questions & Answers.

Admired Mickey Thompson too but never found much reading on him till after 30 years old.
High Performance Pontiac Magazine & the advent of internet made it easier to read up Mickey.

I was in the Philippines. That's all there was on the two TV channels. Most of it was Marcos input anyway...

Little did I realize at the time that "Penelope Pitstop" might have a less than salubrious connotation.

Al Unser Jr. for giving Fittipaldi the thumbs up when he had just taken him out on the last lap. It was just racing to him.
Al gives thumbs up at 5:00 min and replay of crash on lap 199 6:38 minutes.

I dislike Fittipaldi for NOT drinking the milk in victory lane. He owned and grew oranges.

Kevin Cogan, watched him drive Indy and during the last few laps the car would wiggle every time coming out of the turn 4.

Jackie Stewart for his commentary during races, was very interesting. Eddi Cheaver was very good also.
