I got an e-mail question asking me if I was limited to building a first generation small block Chevy ENGINE SPECIFICALLY FOR HOT STREET USE , WHAT WOULD BE THE COMPONENTS ID SUGGEST.
yes doing it correctly costs a bit more than most people expect,
Assuming you want to keep as many basically stock TYPE components and not do a swap to either a big block chevy or newer LS style engine...
WELL,ID START WITH SWAPPING TO A DANA 44 REAR GEAR, and a 3200 rpm stall converter with a built up 700r4, or if your serious a built 4l80E with conversion to full msanual controls, because those components basically maximize the drive train potential, and assuming I could spend a semi reasonable $10-12K on the engine, and drive train, to maximize the basic combo

Id build a 406 cubic inch SBC on a DART block
