Be very very aware of parts you buy from Rockauto, as to warranty. Rockauto won’t warranty a Denso oxygen sensor that went bad in 5 months time. They say it’s a “wear part” and that’s that. They don’t seem to care about customer service. Other parts stores have the exact same part and carry a one year warranty. Denso says they won’t warranty it because Rockauto isn’t an authorized dealer. Try to contact Rockauto, very hard. Email is about it and you get a different person responding each time with what appears to be their stock response. Sensor is for my daughters car and she definitely can’t afford to pay another $200.00 for the sensor and labor to install it. Rockauto’s warranty is nonexistent. If you buy anything from them, you better read all their fine print. Another case of buyer beware. I’ll never buy anything from them again and urge members here to be very diligent reading the small print of your purchases. I didn’t read their warranty information and got burned for it. Hope this keeps you from doing likewise.

After reading the post I found else ware ( quoted above, )
Id like your thoughts gentlemen
,

very few companys warrantee any sensor or electrical component once its been installed,
simply because they have zero control over the install or running conditions.
certainly most will not past 30 days ,
most only honor warranty if the parts never been installed, or/and if the part was defective on arrival,
Id say the guy had a point but after running it for 5 months in unknown conditions??? I think hes being rather un-reasonable
I've purchased thousands of dollars of parts from rockauto
service is fairly fast, and provided you read carefully and don,t shop using the ;lowest price option you generally get decent value.
under the conditions and time frame stated I don,t think they are being unreasonable.
a leaking fuel injector, improper installation,
a leaking head gasket oil or coolant contamination, detonation,
improper fuel pressure use of E85 (ethanol) and several other factors will kill any oxygen sensor in a very short time

Sometimes it's better to buy local.

As much as possible, BUT, sometimes it is just cheaper online for the same EXACT parts, especially if you can't find it locally. But if you read between the lines,,that guy was just looking for something free as he SHOULD know that all or most electrical parts have no warranty.

I agree, I have bought lots of electrical parts, and other than being defective when purchased, I don't know if I have ever seen a part that was installed and used for a 5 month period being under any type of warranty. JMO!

yeah theres always a few guys that have an unreasonable expectation,
like the guys that go back to a mechanic or dealership for totally unrelated issues , simply because ... you just worked on the car.. now this happened...

IE
you replaced the brakes, well 3 months later the left head light won,t light up
yeah I have too deal with idiots also

This is from the RockAuto site and at the bottom of the description for a Denso Oxygen Sensor. Bold markup is mine. It would appear that the person in question did not read the warranty information at all.

DENSO Warranty Information:
12 months on A/C Evaporator Cores, A/C Compressors, A/C Compressor Clutches, A/C Condensers, Radiators, Fuel Injectors, Fuel Pumps, Fuel Tank Sending Units, Ignition Coils (COP), Alternators, Starters, and Mass Air Flow Sensors. Parts subject to normal wear and tear are not covered (Filters, Ignition Wires, Oxygen Sensors, Spark Plugs, Wiper Blades, etc.). IMPORTANT A/C COMPRESSOR WARRANTY NOTE: In order to ensure that proper warranty credit is issued if needed, the compressor installation instructions must be adhered to. All compressors returned for defect must show proof of purchase of an A/C Orifice Tube (or A/C Expansion Valve), A/C Receiver Drier/Accumulator, and A/C System Flush or a Work Order showing the purchase of these items and that the system was flushed.
