When I Hit The Lotto (just Dreaming About The Potential Engine Build If ..)

(just dreaming about the potential engine build if price was only a minimal concern)
the idea here is to build a pump gas friendly BBC that would very easily exceed 750hp/800 ft lbs that you could drive on the street using high test gas
my goal would be very high dependability and massive torque, in the 3500rpm-6000 rpm range, hp would be no real issue as I have no intention to race the car
Id have a 4l80E trans modified fo full manual shift control and a 3000 rpm stall converter and a dana 60 rear differential with 354:1 rear gears

ID build something rather similar to this 598 BBC short block

a mild hydraulic roller cam similar to this (remember its for street performance not racing)

a set of 8 66lb fuel injectors

intake similar to this

throttle body

Id want coil on plug per cylinder ignition with an adjustable height collar distributor type control

I was thinking closer to $16K if its done to my standards... but hey its not that bad if you consider it as a project spread over several years

Hmm, that’s grumpy ?, I don’t see a lsa number. Intake lobe center is 108, that tells me too much overlap for forced induction motor!

Would that cam work with a blown motor?
I am thinking you need one with 112-114 lsa so the overlap is shorter. Longer the exhaust valve is open at overlap the more boost is pushed out the exhaust! Oh yeah, if I am right the exhaust duration should be a little longer too. Seen a couple blown engines and they all seem to have about 10 degrees more exhaust duration.

yes thats all valid useful info

yeah, that $4-$5k added for the trans cost,
is most likely all too true.

but by todays prices,
having an exceptional car you proud to own that costs you under about $25K is not all that bad a deal
certainly better in my mind than spending $70-$80K on some of the newer options
besides I like the look of the older c4 corvettes

Yea, can't argue with that statement ! I'm not going to spend ($70-$80K) that kind of money on a car.

If I win it Grumpy.... They say I can give away $15,000 tax free to someone... So if my math is correct, I could cover the site costs for you for the
next 75 years. Or.... just give you the cash to jump start your dream engine.

well here's hoping we all come out with our dreams accomplished

Yeah I was gonna say 15-16 k for engine and with 4-5k for transmission, then another 4-5 k for suspension and little knit pickin stuff, between 25-30k would build a real street performer!
