why is the oil pan selection frequently given very little consideration?

I got asked to look over one, of the local guys newer engine swaps.
his project car could be a semi clone of this one, that had its pictures, posted on-line, that I found posted on line, with the exception that the interior is mostly in need of replacement and his car is a far darker green, almost black..
it appears he had found a almost rust free car that had been garage stored for decades, the original 350 v8 had long since seized, so he was able to buy the non-running car for $1700

he found, and purchased , a 454 BBC engine, from a motor home that had been damaged rather badly in a storm last year where a tree fell on the motor home,
and purchased it, complete with the transmission,
but because he had no idea if the motor home had been driven in decades,
he chose to use the th350 that was in the leman's to simplify the engine swap.
when he went to swap engines he found the motor home engines oil pan would not fit or clear, in the leman's frame.
so thinking quickly, he said to himself, the 1968 replacement 1968 chevelle 396 oil pan should fit,
and it does! problem solved!

yes the engine got installed and he took it for a drive, the car runs reasonably well,
and on the face of it I have to congratulate him for a well done almost factory looking engine bay after the swap,
of course the engines a low compression BBC that puts out about 250 hp
.(obviously that can be improved) but hes had an aggravating problem,
in that the cars oil gauge shows low oil pressure,
(not all that surprising in an original un-rebuilt 454 BBC from the early or mid 1970s.
but the oil pressure drops to about 10 psi by the time he hits 3rd gear accelerating!
obviously he will need to go through and refresh the engine but having a 4 quart oil pan on what he hopes to be a brisk performance car is just not a smart move.
one of the neighbors kids purchased a 1968 lemans that hes installed a motor home 454 BBC, in,
he used a stock replacement 4 quart chevelle oil pan, now I'd like to up grade that to a 6-7-or ideally 8 quart baffled oil pan,
hes willing to install a remote mount oil filter so headers blocking oil filter access is not a huge concern,
but oil pan to ground clearance and adding some oil pan capacity and baffles to control slosh in the oil pan is a concern,
and the stock 4 quart oil pan is not ideal.
so please post suggestions, Id hate to go with the stock oil pan and an oil accumulator,
just to get the volume and oil pressure consistency he needs.
thoughts gentlemen? looking for a larger capacity baffled oil pan on that 454 mark iv engine

Considered a Sin in the past dropping a Big Block Chevy into a Vintage Pontiac Musclecar.
But its done with LS Now into everything.
Everything but a 1970 Trans Am & SD 455 Trans Am.
To retain value Pontiac V8 Power all iron required.

Guys are cheep Grumpy.
High capacity oil pans are an added expense.
