will splashing water on an engine crack parts?

HEY GRUMPY?? I dumped cold water on a hot engine several times to put out a fire. I am in the process of working on it now.

I am not seeing any problems, but I don't feel that I can clean it very good while it is on the engine.

Do cast iron manifolds have any spots that would be more prone to crack? If so I could concentrate on those areas first while I take care of other issues.

any cracks will usually be obvious under a detailed close inspection, id suggest careful cleaning and careful inspection but your more than likely ok

a sand blast treatment followed by a trip to a high pressure car wash with a spray wand and some solvent sure would not hurt, or take the intake to a machine shop for a cleaning and inspection
