Wrong pickup tube! Can I swap parts on an oil pump?

Ive got a new oil pump and pickup tube. The time has come to install them and of course the pickup tube is for a 3/4" inlet and my pump has a 5/8". I need to get this motor assembled and into the truck. Nobody sells pickup tubes around here.

Can I just swap the old lower housing with the pickup tube already installed? Should I reuse the old pump? What exactly is the wear items on a pump? Doesn't seem like there is much to go wrong in there. Should I swap out the pressure springs and call it good?

No do not

They also sell the correct pickup tube 5/8".

Okay, I search for an 87 Silverado pickup tube. Which showed in stock! Drove to the parts store, which is a about a 30mile round trip and it IS the correct part. Thanks
