yes 3" exhaust pipes will or at least can be forced into fit thru the stock cross member on a c3 corvette, BUT your far better off using a modified cross member for more clearance

I've got a 3" going through a stock cross-member. These are some old pictures but you get the point.

As per the above post it can be done. BUT, the bowtie crossmember ($200) sure makes it easier...you can get a straight run to the back without all those bends. This is my 3" with the bowtie, no more donuts. Notice how high the bowtie hugs the floor and stays out of the way.
