I was recently over at a friends home/garage where he has been working on rebuilding a muscle car,
for what he refers to as "FOREVER" in reality its been only a couple years.
he purchased the car with the intention of building a clone of a GTO/JUDGE
yes its frustrating to work on a limited budget with less than ideal tools and little experience,
but thats how most of us start out!
don,t get over -whelmed ,
break the project down into minor sub- stages,
do the gauges,
re build the engine,
do body work,
replace bumpers,
replace trim,
repair or replace the grill,
paint,
glass
transmission,
wiring,
suspension,
drive train, differential, shocks,\
brakes,
interior,
seats etc
as individual sections or stages while you basically temporarily put the rest on hold
its a 1969 pontiac tempest
, similar to the picture below,
but his is currently faded black with a dark green front cap, fenders and hood. and doors,
that he purchased from a donor car,
to replace some minor rust and fender bender damage.
he purchased the car from some guy,
out of state as a partially rebuilt project,
who failed to disclose the trans and engine needed to be replaced and the radiator was missing and the gauges in the dash were non-functional.
I looked the car over and its basically remarkably rust free,
yeah it needs extensive reworking but its a solid car!
yes its rather normal for a 50 year old car to require extensive work,
and yes its time consuming but he has a good solid basis.
