400ci small block fuellie heads which cams should be used

But damm this is so MUCH Fun !!!!
Yes but there is also such a very satisfying feeling completing something that is SO CLOSE TO
PERFECT it's exhausting mentally.

Your website does not indicate any kind of schooling or training, how did this come about???
I don't understand.... you have students that are learning, but what is the end goal??? Putting
some of them to work? How were they chosen? More details please!\

I was thinking about coming over and living with Dorian and going to school at your shop!
Sorry, Dorian does not know yet, it's a surprise so don't tell him!!!

Fok !?!?! That's Belgium ! Ha ! Go figure !!!

I would def look FW to meeting you Indy. Would you visit?

The wat we work is how i was thaught
From my employer in the UK.
I have training program where students can learn to use lathes / files / think....
We have full reverse engineering facilities
And cnc machined where these young guys can put in practise what they studied in school.
The reason I work with young people is so that I can learn them to work how I want them to work.
It is a very demanding job and you need a lot of skills.
It is very hard to get these ( old) cars up to the standard that I want them to be.
I will most defenatly come and visit one of you in the US. There is a big meeting for elcos next year...

Again very good to have learned to know all of you!!

Good of seems you are not supposed to take take the torque converter out together with the engine...
Converter leaks like mad now...
All great fun...

Check the Front Oil Pump bushing in your transmission before installing a new front pump oil seal.
Be best to pull the front pump from the trans.
Leave the trans upright.
Internals will stay in place.
Unbolt the front pump.
Press out the old bushing.
And install new.
If a 700 R4 it comes out towards the rear of the car.
Presses in from rear forward.
There is a step lip machined in the front pump half.
Done wrong the aluminum casting cracks

700R4 & 4L60E use a front Pump oil seal retainer.
Like a giant Clip.
Make sure its on there.
Without the seal may pop out.
High line pressure present.
Because Clutches and steels are small.

Turbo 400 clutches and steels are double the size diameter.
1/2 line pressure used only.
No front pumps seal retainer clip used.

we all learn occasionally through screw-up, its called gaining experience!
anyone who tells you they never screwed up, is either lying or never did hardly any work on a car/engine

Stay away from 2 piece steel covers - they leak.
I'm forced to point out that proper installation and use of the proper sealants effects results, if you use the typical yellow 3m weather strip adhesive I see lots of guys use its sure to leak over time.

It's a th 350.
We just had to get the car ready.
I knew we had to give the plate / gearbox/ converter enough space....
Anyway .
Escalade( my wife's daily) is going for a hefty bill .she takes to old plate with her ( as the elco is in another workshop as I have no time to work on the bloody thing )
So we will than have to figure out what to do...
All great fun and lessons learned ( still the biggest fun I had for ages

I am confused.
LS V8 Engine flexplate will not bolt up to an old school Small Block Chevy.
Do you have an Early Cadillac Escalade with a 5.7 L 350ci Vortech V8 engine? Be about 1999 model year.
Be 4L60E transmission stock.
Believe 153 Tooth flywheel flexplate used.
All 1984-1996 C4 Gen Corvettes had 153 Tooth Flexplates stock behind 700R4 & later 4L60e transmissions.

Turbo 350 Gen 1 Small Block Chevy takes a 168 Tooth flexplate flywheel.

Good news is Turbo 350 & Turbo 400 both use Billet 8620 Steel Gear Rotor Front oil pump gears.
Cast Iron fron pump body.
Bullet proof.

When there is no time the only thing to do is make sure you have an easy day at work.
Whenever that is possible.
Stay up all night and turn wrenches.
Plan Ahead and have Tools and Supplies Ready.
I have done it that way many times.
Cat Nap power nap at Lunch Break.
Need it to keep the Mind Sharp.

No no
My wife is taking the old flexplate to be fitted ..
I guess the one that came with the new ( old ) block isn't correct

We can't work longer than 12 hours straight.
If we work longer it's mistake mistake Mistake.
The problem with restoring cars It's mostly not " bolt on and of"
It's diagnose/ measure / fabricate/ machine/ verify .... and bolt..

Yes To Custom Fabricate you must have a clear mind to create.
