At one time I used to think most kids grew up and learned a few basics about camping,
how to start a fire, how to put an edge on a knife, how to stay warm, dry and not get lost in the woods,
how you never drink directly from a stream or lake, how to plan a camp, how to boil water, how to clean, dress out, cook game etc.
basics like how to verify directions like north, how to tell at least approximate time looking at the sun in the sky,
but Ive been utterly amazed at the lack of the most basic skills I see the younger members of my family,
and the neighbor hood kids and others display over the years.
