Here's a good bit of info to know: The '97 to mid-'99 LS1 block (bottom, block in picture above) should not be used for high-performance applications.

Grumpy,

Are those dimensions (engine block graphic) for a LS or Gen I small block ??? I have some dimensions I got from here, but I thought they
were for the Gen I and they match the pictures.

top diagram is ls1 lower is gen 1 sbc they can bolt up

ie you can bolt a th350 to a ls1
but there are bell housing differences in some cases, especially with manual transmissions
