every once in a while I see guys load a muzzle loading rifle but forget to pour the powder in first, in many cases you can pull the nipple and pour in a few grains of powder , replace the nipple and fire the priming cap, even a few grains of 4F black powder will usually provide enough pressure to force the ball in the barrel to exit, sometimes with rather amazing force, so have a substantial back stop like a dirt pile or a trash barrel full of sand, if you try it that way.

if you must mechanically pull the projectile watch this video, you can fabricate the tool in the video easily from common materials found in most hardware stores if you own a decent welder, or get creative and think it thru, using some threaded rod in as large a diameter as you can find that will easily slide down the bore is recommended, and it certainly won, hurt to pour penetrating oil into the bore to reduce friction
