consider the c4 corvette as a project car

yes you could build a cobra kit car or a T-bucket, project, that would be maybe 1400 lbs lighter in weight,
(a huge performance advantage), but it would generally cost you 3-5 times as much,
as purchasing a used c4 corvette will, and there's a huge parts, supply and knowledge base supporting the c4 corvettes
and your not getting soaked if caught out in a bad rain storm,
and you'll usually have less issues registering, insuring and licensing the corvette

I personally think, after decades of working on the c4 corvettes,
are some of the best made and easy to work on corvettes ever made
especially the 1990-1996 versions, and the 1996 is in my opinion the best options.
now that hardly means there are no problems , but they have a charm that many people find addicting
personally I find the idea of a serious BBC powered c4 corvette with a 4l80E transmission, adapted to full manual control,
with a much improved cooling and brake system to be the stuff day dreams seem to be made from.
