Did the 89 Corvette come with a 3-Angle Valve Job?

I’m getting closer to having my 89 Corvette ready for the new cam. As I was trying to find new valve stem seals for the stock head, I wondered if my vette came with a 3 angle valve job from the factory? I’d also take any suggestions on valve stem seals too!

I looked down the head’s intake port since the intake is off & even tried my bore scope but really couldn’t tell. Again these are stock heads as they came from the factory. Thanks!

" heat is moving from the valve to the guide and not from the guide to the valve ...."
thats one reason sodium filled valve stems are suggested to be used on air cooled and turbo race engines

yes that's a very valid point here, the valve stem, and valve seat, is where the heat from the exhaust valve is rapidly transferred to the cylinder heads, keep in mind the valve train is on a 720 degree repetitive cycle than the valves spend over 1/2 of that seated on the valve seats in the heads, allowing heat flow out of the valve heads and stems to transfer to the cylinder heads

How Valves Seal

Watch this video by Eric Weingartner, I learned alot, I think you will to ! .

you DO REALIZE you can,t just drop the valve train parts, from kits they sell,
into or on, those bare cast heads
and have the result work RIGHT???

Stainless Valves: Do you really need them?

I thought this was interesting info from the Isky website. I can't find where I have SS valves, but a magnet will NOT stick to one of the Brodix IK200 valves. I'm wondering if I should consider buying valve lash caps??? http://www.iskycams.com/techinfo_index.html Click on "Tech Tips 2000"...

don,t forget to use proper valve spring seats/shims

now you may not need these, on all applications, but aluminum heads can be damaged if the valve spring is run directly on the head surface ,and if the springs base can move around due to harmonics at high rpms it can cause valve control issues and wear issues and they are a good idea on even...

sellecting valve springs, and setting up the valve train

How do you determine the spring pressure needed to keep the valves under control for a given lift, duration, and max rpm. It might take you several hours to read thru all the links and sub links but its time very well spent as it could save your engine from destruction and save you thousands of...

I know all about valves & seats, I even bought a Neway cutter set. Then cut the valve seats on on my 1937 flathead straight 6 engine, 30/45/60. Then hand lapped the valves to confirm the placement & width of the contact between the valve & seat. Additionally I went with smaller stemmed valves & matching guides as well as back cut the valves at 30 degrees. The original 2.5” valve guides were also cut back 1/2” & the area in the port tapered. All these things were done to increase air volume & velocity.

What I don’t know is how many valve seat angles did the Corvette come with from the factory.

three, all the vettes I've worked on looked like they had three angle valve seats

read this thread and sub linked info very carefully
