there are very few weapons that allow a semi skilled person,
to defend their home and family, effectively,
against a determined home invader or group of well armed criminals,
who are dead set on doing you and your family lethal harm
the properly used AR15 are among those options,
shotguns generally lack magazine capacity and have significantly more recoil,
and handguns require much more skill to be used effectively under stress.
I was easily able to train my wife and our sons to shoot with adequate accuracy,
in under 30-45 minutes, and much of the required time required ,
was just showing the loading, chambering, and functional requirements
(including how to clear potentially rare mal functions) and rapid mag changes
before they could consistently and rapidly hit a grape fruit size target at 30 yards

this guys using hard ball ammo
.(a big mistake for personal defence in a home)

BE aware that the ammo you select matters a great deal,
for personal defensive use used fast expanding projectiles NOT military hard ball.

this greatly reduces chances of over penetration through walls.
