I arrived in texas , and my tools are still in transit!

so I was forced too open my wallet,
I dropped by HF, to pick up a few tools Id require
I already own the required tools but can't get to them now!
my son has a few basic tools but the
cheap floor jack he owns is basically to small,
cheaply made and in my judgement unsafe

I dropped over to HF and purchased a floor jack for the vette

HF amazingly had ZERO oil drain pans of any decent size in stock

I stopped by advance auto, and tractor supply and wallmart,
they were also out of any full size oil pans most had 5-6 quart size only in stock
I had several options, all inclueded ordering and waiting for the part to arrive in several days time

So you couldn’t get by with a cheaper one until your tools got there? Must be nice to be flush with money!
 
sure I could have! but I figured I might be better off, buying one that I could use for years as the ones I have in storage'
that are being shipped are over 23-and 26 years old and I vastly prefer not buying or trusting a cheap / flimsy floor jack,
that I would never use again, once the ones in storage arrived,
( even if I would not think of getting under the vette or tractor untill its up on several 10-12 ton jack stands, no mater the floor jack used.)
(I guess realistically any reasons good if you felt you needed a decent floor jack, and you did not want to wait the two-three weeks before the ones you have being shipped arrive, especially when you know those, old sear floor jacks I've used for decades, those jacks are marginal , and at times a P.I.T.A, to use as they have a max lift height of about 20")
btw Im amazed at how many people buy a floor jack and never read the specs,
and find the floor jack is not capable of lifting the car/truck up to a height,
they can comfortably use a set of jack stands and a mechanics creeper with.
truthfully I feel almost tramatized without access to my shop and tools,
Im so used to having the ability to make or repair almost anything auto related.
I constantly think about using my tools, welder and knowing the tools are either in shipping,
or now no longer accessable is not a pleasant feeling after having worked to acquire them for decades.
for decades, if I kneeded to do something I had the required tools and knowledge ,
now I feed like IM being restricted, working with both hands tied and in leg irons.
and the only tools I can get are a joke.(low quality crap and not much of even that,
( I have no idea how my son operates with such low quality and limited tools)
(I would not use his floor jack or jack stands as a door stop with any certainty of them working)

btw Ive gotten to the age where I don,t mind working from a mechanics creeper ,
provided its a decent design,
but getting down onto or up off the creepers a challange!
and without someone to grab tools and hand you parts,
its becomming a real P.I.T.A, at times to work on anything.
thus you need to think through your projects and place every tool you might need in easy reach...
and we all know thats not likely to happen on the first few tries:facepalm::swearing::worried:
