Industrial Opportunity Partners, the owner of Edelbrock has acquired the COMP Performance Group and their associated brands
. This continues a pattern of consolidation in the aftermarket that has seemingly ramped up over the last few years. As you will read below, IOP intends to run the companies as independent business units with their own respective management teams.
There are obviously a lot of strengths here and not that much overlap in product lines. Yes, COMP Has RHS for their cylinder head brand but Edlebrock’s head offerings are so vast and diversified that we don’t really see them as redundant, even in the same section of the market. It will be interesting to see what IOP decides to do with respect to the location of Edelbrock as they now have infrastructure in a far less expensive part of the country to do business and the Edelbrock real estate in California has to be worth a significant amount due to its location.
This is one we did not see coming. Here’s to hoping for prosperous and growth filled decades for these two iconic brands.

January 30, 2020 – Industrial Opportunity Partners (IOP), an operations-focused private equity firm based in Evanston, Ill., and owner of Edelbrock LLC, today announced the acquisition of the COMP Performance Group.
Edelbrock, LLC and the COMP Performance Group and their respective management teams will currently operate as independent organizations, and we do not anticipate any interruption of service. Both teams will continue to provide the same great designs, products, and service that have made them respective market leaders as they explore opportunities to drive increased product and customer offerings.
