that might be true, but most of us can,t and you have to wonder how much of the price or mark-up, is profit.
I don,t know many guys that would not like to purchase a new car or truck every few years...
but wages have not kept up with productivity or the inflation.

LOL! I missed that you answered my post about the 40% savings.
To save 40% on a new Corvette you simply wait 3 to 4 years. Someone out there right now is polishing and working a clay bar while keeping the mileage super low for you to enjoy.

I seen Richard.
Partial understood you.
There can be no Corvette if GM Goes Bankrupt again and shuts down for good.

tz weighs in on C8 pricing..
The automotive industry, and in the USA especially, has something of a blunt topped pyramid-shaped arrangement of executives. There are very few at the top who wield or once wielded very significant power in multiple Automotive organizations. Bob Lutz is one of those people. He served as an exec of ALL of the Detroit Big Three:
  • Executive Vice President of Ford Motor Company
  • President and then Vice Chairman of Chrysler Corporation
  • Vice Chairman of General Motors.
But he's retired now, right? He still goes to the same dinners and parties as those still sweating the grind daily and few are respected as much as Lutz.

Lutz was one of the earliest confirmations of Corvette rear-mid engine production.

Now, according to Road and Track, Lutz has stated, "...the goal is to sell the C8, version for version, at a little more than the C7. The superfast variants will come out two to three years later and cost more than $100,000, just like today’s phenomenal ZR1. The goal, as always with Corvette, is to equal or beat exotics costing many times more. It will be the best value on the planet.”

In the face of many doubters, I have repeatedly made the case that from a pure cost standpoint, there is no justification for a rear mid-engine car to cost significantly more than a similar front engine/rear drive car - especially from today's Corvette. I have presented Actual pricing and production/sales information showing that a $100k base price cannot sell enough units to keep Bowling Green open. GM is closing passenger car plants to tool up more SUV plants demonstrating that GM is more responsive to market dynamics than the old "If we build it, they will buy it" failed philosophy.

GM shareholders would bring a class action lawsuit against the Board of Directors if $750Million was spent on a factory for a business model that REDUCED units produced and Gross Profit.

Set all of my arguments aside and reread Bob Lutz's quotes...and smile my friends. If you can afford a C7, you will be able to afford a C8. If you can afford a 3-4 year old C7 you will be able to afford a 3-4 year old C8. SMILE!

The general feedback on the C8 has not been good at all lately Grumpy.
I have been trying to stay Neutral.
Most do not like it at all.

Need performance test figures.
GM refuses to disclose.
Public interest will Wane till then.

More GM Patents That Could Debut on the C8
Active spoiler width:
GM just patented the "variable-width aerodynamic spoiler." What good is it? No good on the way to the grocery store or in a typical commute, but during high speed corning the spoiler will automatically, instantly extend only over the tire (usually outside) with the least traction to give it additional downforce. They call it torque vectoring. During the straights, the 'shortened' spoiler has less drag = higher top speed.

It's worth noting that a new Lamborghini Huracan model with 'Active Aerodynamic' features posted a sub 7minute lap at the Nurburgring - quicker than past Huracans.

This one actually surfaced last August and I missed it:
GM Patent for instrument panel that will not be blocked by steering wheel. GM is working on an adaptive instrument panel. GM argues that a constant view of the instruments is crucial during hard driving. The new feature would receive position information from the steering wheel and move specified information like RPM and speed to a location on the digital dashboard where the main opening of the steering wheel isn’t obscuring it.

Someone even posted a Picture of a Fiero door on the C8....almost a perfect match.

Needs to Race that C8.
Needs to be Super Fast.

Heard on noon news today that New Corvette will NOT debut as scheduled due to problems of frame twist with that much horse power.

With the Top sports car magazines placing Emphis on Street Outlaws No Prep Drag Racing Front Cover like I showed on Digital Corvette last night Grumpy....
Not sure how it will pan out.
Not even sure how to make an all new C8 Run Drag Fast.
Just Know it has be 9-second fast or no one will care.
Not fair but where we are at today.
Has to have True 1000 Hp at flywheel to do it.
Not blow up also.
