im sure there was brian, im no dummy. but its like grumpy said, everyone 289 mustang had a 4 speed and they were all 64 1/2 THE FIRST YEAR!! and they were all fastbacks, and they all ran 11's

not everyone had a 455 poncho, some guys had a 2 barrel 389, but when they tell the stories its always the same. "I HAD THE BIGGEST BEST SHIT YOU COULD GET, CHECKED ALL THE BOXES ON THE DEALERS ORDER FORM, when i was delivering NEWSPAPERS for a living"

"THOSE WERE THE DAYS"
I found a Vid on U-tube a while back.
Post shortly. Its an eye opener.

If I wasn't already committed to sbc right now I would be going a different route wish the car market wasn't so crazy every one wants half way decent shit for nothing but selling for big bucks. To many flip that car shows on TV Gas Monkey Want to be's. But I want to tell some crazy stories to my grand kids about a twin gt3071rs 355 TT that ran on gas unlike there new hydrogen electric motor cars that out perform them at a dial of a switch and a quick discharge of the batteries. If they running that shit now in 24 hours there is some serious money going into development.

Gasoline and racing will be around for at least 20 more years John.

Drag racing is still alive and well. It's just that there's so many other forms of motorsports now that it doesn't get the promotion it got years ago when everyone wanted a street/strip car or a pro streeter.

Ya, catch cans for big HP LS is a standard thing.

I spent the day Sunday porting a set of 993's for the 357 I'm building for my Malibu. Who does that anymore? New school is just order up some alloy Vortecs.

Just a complete disaster utter failure Birdman.
My bud Bob- Mopar Bob was watching all year long on Digital Corvette Forum.
He was right.
The Hellcats have Won.
And The Corvette Guys don't stand a chance.

Not a single person in the Group went Drag Racing at the Dragstrip.
Raced a Hellcat.

Not a single person on DC Road Raced and won against the SRT VIPER T/A.
VIPER WILL HAVE 900-950 In a few months.

The only 2 guys that have a chance are Pontiac guys.
YOU AND ME BIRDMAN.

I'd need a LOT more power and drive train to run a hellcat at the strip. Now, going around corners on a road track. Well, that's a different story!

I'm gonna run my Malibu at the strip here. Won't be fast (probably low 13's) but I'll have fun.

I wonder what Phil has been up to?
A guy came in the shop a few days ago.
One of his buddies gave him a ride in a New Hellcat.
SUPER FICKEN FAST HE SAID.
MY BOSS GOT NERVOUS.
WHOEVER HAS THE FASTEST RACE CAR GETS THE RACE WORK.
AND IS NUMBER 1 .

ive been trying to do ten things at once brian... helping a buddy resurrect his old race car (68 mutang fastback cleveland 331" real boss motor) and tearing my datsun apart trying to squeeze every last trick in the book into the cylinder head and intake manifold that i can... also about 50% done building my floating depression flow bench as per john dalton and david vizard... also been helping another buddy slap his car back together he just got back from paint... body shops nowadays are fucking barbarians, ive been spent 80-100 hours touching up and correcting all the fuck ups of the body shop that are basicaaly amount to poor masking and poor prep... oh yea and they ruined his interior when they wet sanded and buffed the car... RUINED. daMN SHAME

same time i just dumped huge coin starting a project remodeling my bathrooms in the house and today at home depot some sonofabitch with a trailer nearly TOTALLED my diesel audi a3 in the parking lot trying to back his trailer next to me,,, tore the Pass side fender, scraped the whole side of the audi, and stopped right at the rear 1/4 panel. so now ive got a 500 dollar deductible to cover and then rental whichll hopefully get reimbursed someday.

F.A.M.F.

I have my Boss in Chicago saying it daily too.
Stupid people tend to stay stupid.

Staying busy here too Phil.
Building a few High Performance Street engines at work.
I orginized and took inventory of parts to rebuild my 1965 Olds 425 A engine.
Goal is to have it done and installed into my 1963 G.P. before the snow flies.
Fall Midwest weather has been Beautiful here. Perfect.
Driving the old C4 1987 Roadster Corvette sometimes.
Bored with it.
Not A Pontiac .
TA Next spring ready to go back together.

The other night my oldest friend and one time business partner Jack stopped in and a conversation turned to reminisce about the days we were heavy into the auctions and collecting cars. We had different styles but we loved taking everything that amounted to anything as a muscle to the track and raced to learn how to squeeze the best 1/4 mile times.
We had so many cars in partnerships between us and others, than we nearly drove all the popular cars of the 60 and 70s.
While Jack had his very expensive weather station, we raced at a track that was nearly close to sea level, the coolest temperature- low humidity nights and we got off the track by the time it got too late and the time waiting in line to stage got too long. We laughed about how we busted our backs pushing those cars inching along starting out the evening with our hoods up and 50 lbs of ice between the 2 of us cooling down the intakes.
We had many factory survivors and knew just how to play with everything just like the magazine drivers of the day. Jack was a track manager at Englishtown, NJ for many years and closed down many times to accommodate the press. Fortunately for the 2 of us he was like a fly buzzing around all the writers and tech guys and learned most of the tricks of the trade.
We never could get the numbers the mags published. As near as we figured only the gas has changed over the years.
Sometimes we ran a couple dozen passes between the 2 of us in some cars trying to dial in the best tire pressures, the best launching rpm's - our reaction times were always respectable and never worse than the publications stated for their slips. We had cars that write ups claimed to run in the 13 second range and we were at best running those same cars in the 15's to 17 second times. Jack and I have heard it from all the guys who say, oh, you just didn't know how to drive them. these are the same guys that would brag that their bone stock 85 Grand National from the factory would run mid 12 seconds. I don't care what anybody says, those cars were plush semi-luxury cars and were heavy. What did they have, 285 hp? I digress, we did know how to drive - these cars just didn't have it in them as claimed and yes, all these cars we ran were at the top of their game! I have to laugh at these guys who think every car manufacture under rated all the cars of the day for insurance rates were driving customers away. These same people can't let you explain the gross hp ratings before 71 are not the same as net is today.

A neighbor around the corner from me just inherited his dad's 71 Hemi Cuda, we shaked over a friendly bet I can kick his ass with my wife's Caddy CTS-V. I can't wait til the track reopens in the spring!
