and thought, this is one dumb ^&&**,
I would have never considered owning a 45/70 that is ideal for use of cast bullets, and not handload ammo for it!
(, if you own a 45/70 and don't handload your going to pay $60-$90 dollars a box for 20 cartridges.)
if you handload, costs drops to well under $1 a cartridge,
if you also cast your own bullets, your looking at maybe ,.50-.60 cents a shot max.
buy a mold similar to this
keep in mind , if you use mid range loads like maybe 45 grains of IMR 3031
under that cast bullet youll likely get 8-10 reloads out of each brass case,
and have accurate ammo easily able to hunt deer/elk out to 200 plus yards

and a basic decent press and accessories, the component and tool cost will very rapidly pay for themselves in vastly reduced ammo cost
