I'm getting cabin fever and need to get out and do something. Thinking of getting my Catalina out , easy to drive right now for my condition. The past year the battery has been disconnected, 2 barrel carb off because I rebuilt it. Bought new plugs to put in. On the top of a very small list of items that need attention: the exhaust system. It's a dual exhaust, it think it's 2" pipe and I believe the exhaust sound is too loud. They look like regular mufflers, center in, offset out and about regular size of 11 by 17? (oblong). I hate like hell to buy another set of mufflers and find out it wasn't worth it.
Is there any reasonably priced mufflers that are quite but have a descent sound on acceleration. I don't want to put out the money for Dynamax valved turbos (I have a set but I'm saving them
 
Thanks Mike, Brian recommended these mufflers way back and I did buy them on his endorsement. In fact I wrote that in the last line of my initial posting here.
They’re certainly great mufflers but they maybe too good for my needs right now. I would have to change the rest of the exhaust system as the original is 2” ( or slightly larger) and those Dynamax Turbos are 2.5.”
My plans are to sell this car soon as I get better. Please tell Brian thank you and I hope he’s doing well.
 
Thanks for asking Mike,. I’m healing pretty fast considering it’s been almost 2 months since that hellish week in August.
My wife is keeping me around for the entertainment I provide her lol!
