Pre 67 BBC oil pans

Ive got a 65 396 on an engine stand that I pulled our of my 66 caprice due to a stubborn upper oiling problem that I think we've resolved .
I had the oil pan off of this motor so I bought a 1 piece felpro pan gasket only to realize that hey wait a minute here ,
There's a bolt hole in this pan at 6 o'clock in the front under the timing cover along with a corresponding threaded hole in the timing cover that accepts a 3/8 bolt .
Instead of just running the full gasket (without that hole in it ) past/over the hole (which btw I don't think would have worked either due to the factory lip on the inside of the hole (picture attached))
I pierced a hole in the gasket to allow the bolt to go through and used rtv along with the bolt.
It leaked.
Ofcourse.
I cannot for the life of me find the correct oil pan gasket for the pre 67 BBC's that had the hole in them from the factory.

One thing is for sure. Guys who are restoring these pre 67 cars with big blocks in them are finding a way to use that factory bolt to keep everything correct . I just don't know what it is they're doing.
Again , I can't find the right gasket anywhere.
I do have a pan without the hole off a 72 that' I could use but I'd rather do it right and leave the pan on the engine that came on the engine.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

most of the older guys I know, ignored use of that locations bolt, and used a good sealant on both opposing gasket surfaces before the oil pan was mated to the block.(I don.t remember ever seeing a bolt there)
the problem is that you don't want the oil pans installation to squeeze excess sealant out into the oil pan,
as it can result in crap getting sucked into the oil pan, and potentially blocking the oil pans screen

I've got way bigger problems than an oddball oil pan here sir . Crank journal is hittin the pistons. Not every one but look .
Crank was balanced at one time it appears.
We pulled the motor a decade ago got heads done bought new 396 pistons.
This local goof ball put it back together for me . I'm thinkin the crank was balanced with the pistons that came off this motor .
These new 396 pistons aren't clearing.
I'm not sure what to do now .
It's a 6223 forged crank .
I'm wondering if it's a 427 In a block that is a 396 ??
Numbers on Block are to a 65 396 .
I'm lost

where are you located?
IE what city & state?
the rod cap photo is very blurry, is that welding on the rod caps to add weight?
are those 3/8" or 7/16" rod bolts?
you might just need a new set of rods
honestly if you were local and I was not getting the other knee replaced in 14 days Id just say bring it by, for a look. as the
problem looks minor, other than some previous person did not seem to check clearances or know what he was doing,
but its not something you can't correct,
I ask around and I can't find anyone who has a 396 bbc oil pan with a bolt there????

Between Syracuse and Rochester ny .
I took a pan off a 72 402 I had layin around but that's the least of my problems here lol

Yeah them are welds and it's also apparent that they took weight off it too .
That thing had been balance although I've heard the right way to do that is find lightest and then make them all like that versus adding Weight??

I've got the heads off tonight.
It's a stock 4.094 bore ..
I saw a thread you posted in years ago on TC regarding stroking these early blocks .
You were sayin a 454 crank could be used . I was considering that or maybe just going 60 over to make it a 427 ?.

WHILE SOME BLOCKS DO HAVE THICKER CASTINGS ,
any block you are thinking of boring more than .030 needs to be sonic tested
