Ramps for lifts

Please take a look at the photos below. There‘s some ideas on what I’m looking for, ramps of some kind to lift up anything from a zero turn mower to a compact tractor. Mohawk sells something but its as much as another lift costs.

Do you think some kind of wood used with that black steel bracket in photo #3 above would work to hold tractor?

I really like this idea, but ID have bolted on a second section of 2x12 under the one shown between the lift arm support to add rigidity
in fact I may just use that idea, for my kobota tractor once I get the new shop built:like:

My lift arms have a positive lock. The arms can’t move in any direction once you start lifting the arms off the floor
(spring locks under the swing arms compress when settling down onto the floor)

Is this what you are referring to?

no, my old lift had the same arm movement locks once the lift reached 2" off the floor,
I was simply referring to the use of a single 2x12 board, being the support surface between the extended arms being a bit less rigid than I feel would be ideal, and bolting a shorter second 2x12 to the underside of the existing 2x12 shown would potentially aid rigidity

Ok, so we can get 2X12 lumber, but how about the aluminum ramps? Have you seen these somewhere? Are these some short of ready to purchase ramps for loading a pickup truck bed?

So you are concerned about the weight the 2X12 can safely take allowing no sagging. I would space out the lift arms to the wheel base cente. I wouldn’t let weight sit between the lift arms.

I understand you would center the axles (load) over the lift arms, I was just trying to avoid flex as the tractor drove over the middle of the 2x12,
between the support arms. yeah, probably un-necessary, but would not hurt

I would just forget any idea of going to a shop around here. Either they will be so busy and I’ll have to wait very long. They wont want to bother with such custom job - thats the contractor mentality here. My bet its both plus very expensive!

I agree 100%!

thats why I own several welders.... and related tools, like saws, drills etc.
I hate waiting for incompetent people who don,t really give a rats ass,
about doing a decent job ,
or doing things the way I want things done,
so they can over charge me!

By the way, how would you estimate the weight the materials need to handle? Use the actual weight of what you are lifting? because it’s not going to sit Static over anything but the lift arms. Asking mainly for the ramps TS sells.

Yeah well someone else here has my welder:sad: I didn’t need it when it was here. Since then I could have used it a couple dozen times and still more now.

since I don’t have any steel bar can I use steel gas pipe to fit into holes at the ends of the lift arms? Will it be strong enough? I just have to come up with some idea to hold something steady to the lift arms. As for lifting the zero turn mower, the front wheels are not sitting as wide as the rear tires. - another thing to think about.

"Did you leave your lift behind at the big garage?"

yeah! unfortunately I was forced to as it was critical to usage of the garage

"Tell me please, what steps did you take to post the Tractor Supply website?"

go to any web site

copy and paste what you see in the upper index line on your computer
in any post and clicking on the info brings you to the linked site
