ID vastly prefer a 357 mag loaded with 168 grain hard cast as a minimum,
I have used a 10mm handgun on deer in the past and it is approximately the same as a hard cast 357 , mag in my opinion.
and my 44MAG OR THE 445 DWSM as a very relieable HANDGUN
WHEN EITHER IS PROPERLY LOADED WITH 280-310 GRAIN HARD CAST GAS CHECK BULLETS
AS CLOSE TO IDEAL,
AND IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLS AND FREQUENT PRACTICE TO HANDLE THE SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER RECOIL, A 460 s&w,480 Ruger OR THE 500 s&w WITH AT LEAST A 6" -8" BARREL CERTAINLY WOULD GIVE YOU A BIT MORE RELIEABLE AND CONSISTENT RESULTS, DUE TO INCREADED ENERGY AND MUCH BETTER PENETRATION WHEN PROPERLY LOADED. KEEP IN MIND THAT YOULL BE DEALLING WITH A SITUATION WHERE ITS RATHER UNLIKELY YOULL HAVE THE TIME
REQUIRED TO GET OFF MORE THAN 1-3 SHOTS SO YOU MUST MAKE THEM COUNT AND SHOT PLACEMENT MUST BE FAIRLY CONSISTENT,
yes I know that the much larger capacity in the semi auto handguns looks impressive , but even when hunting hogs you rarely get the opportunity, to get off more than 2-3 shots so a powerful revolver is not lacking capacity.
YOULL NEED TO SHOOT A GREAT DEAL TO GET THE NECESSARY PRACTICE,
its that frequent practice and hand loading that significantly reduces ammo cost,
THAT MAKES THE 445 REALLY EFFECTIVE IN YOUR HANDS,

on a shot for shot level of energy and deeper penetration, but it will have more recoil,
and in many cases it will be a revolver with far fewer potential cartridges available between reloads
having a semi auto with a 15 shot mag capacity seems impressive but statistically you rarely ,
have a chance to get off more than a few close range shots at close range,
and shot placements ALWAYS critical
there will always be a choice that must be made, between cartridge power and the skill,
and the consistency and speed ,that the handguns operator can effectively use his handgun of choice
