Hi, guys I have a question has anyone put a big block in a 1982 corvette? I know they had them in earlier c3 's but I don't know if its possible in a 82. thanks

yes its been done several times and its not all that difficult to do
many of the earlier 1968-74 bbc parts will interchange where required

Guys, can a lt1 block from a 1995 firebird be used with a gen. one s.b.c. parts, or do I have to use all lt1 heads and cam and opti spark. thanks

no, if its a LT1-LT4 block your going to have to use LT1-LT4 heads and cam.
yes you can change to a non-opti-crap ignition theres several options
technically it can be done but its a great deal of work resulting in no real gains ,
and it gets expensive and complicated,
if you going with the LT1-LT4 you may want to keep it basically LT4

Hi, has anyone tried the Edelbrock pro-flo 4 , as a replacement for the crossfire system in the 1982? I'm giving up on it, but still want fuel injection!

A Friend in Indiana bought and used the Edelbrock Pro Flow EFI and used on his 496 BBC 454 based block has good results with it.
I recall he used E85 Corn Fuel with the E-Pro Flow EFI.
It's a Good Viable option still I think.
Holley Terminator and Dominator EFI has been more popular but has More Bugs to it.
4-5 years back here a E-Pro Flow EFI used 496 Ci BBC in a 1967 Camaro.

Guys, on the pro flo 4 , will the heat in the engine bay of my vette be bad for power?
Richard Holdener showed that heat has an effect power, compared to a wet system like a carb or tbi. What are your ideas? Thanks

these links may help

Hi, guys what do you think would work better, a pro flo 4 of holley sniper system with all the heat in the engine compartment of my 82 vette? thanks

Hi, guys it's time for me to refurb and update my speedo and tach form my 82 vette,
is there any info on how to get them out??? thanks

Guys, I have a 2 bolt mains block, is it worth the expense to turn it into a 4bolt block? Or do machine shops do enhanced 2 bolts upgrade? Thanks

factory OEM blocks are very thin wall casting's
the aftermarket blocks are cast of better material and made much thicker.

the answer depends on what your intending to do with that engine build and your budget.
think through your choices carefully.
chevy rates the two bolt SBC blocks at 350hp, but everyone has seen two bolt blocks built to produce 450 hp,
and stand up to that power level for short term stress.
the stock two bolt main cap block works ok up to about 400-maybe occasionally 450hp, if its only run hard occasionally.
adding splayed main caps aids the lower end rigidity, but its likely to cost you over $600 in parts and machine work costs
and might allow that original block to handle 500hp-550hp
(yeah I hear all the screams about guys who swear they build 500 hp sbc engine with two bolt main caps all the time)
theres a huge difference between hitting 6000 rpm plus occasionally vs regularly, and pushing 500 hp every once in awhile,
and running an engine hard/frequently at that power level like a dirt track cars engine! STRESS IS CUMULATIVE
if your intention is to build a daily driver , get main cap studs and use the block,
if your intention is to run the crap out of the engine added splayed main caps and spending $600 plus on caps and machine work might make sense, if your goal really exceeds 500 hp or you want a heavy use of nitrous buy a Dart or BOWTIE 4 bolt block
DART blocks are built with better quality cast iron, higher nickel alloy and have much thicker castings

yes you'll constantly see videos showing stock blocks built to very respectable power levels,
but again, stress is cumulative, and the longer the blocks stress level exceeds about 400 hp and the higher the stress,
the more likely it will eventually fail, I've sure seen plenty of guys that had spun bearing's or cracked heads within weeks of boosting power levels on stock block's
again AFTERMARKET DART blocks and SCAT or similar 4340 FORGED rotating assembles ,
have FAR greater strength and can regularly handle 600-700 hp

Hi, guys, the oil pressure gage at idle never settles down at one spot. It jumps around and only settle at a higher rpm. Right now I know the oil is a little over filled, do I need a new gage?

your sensor unit or gauge may be defective, Id test it with a replacement gauge.

Hi guys, I am putting in a new gas gauge and oil pressure gauge in the center cluster. How do I set the pointers in the gauges at zero or where? They peg when I start up the car. Thanks
