Refresh 1982 crossfire vette

Thats Good to know John.
The Guys on the Trans Am Forum are real Vocal on Parts issues & Failures.

One of the latest is the Ultimate Failure of all LS & X Swapped 2nd Gen TA's with a Tremec 6 TKO.
The driveshaft angle end up a mile off.
The Entire trans tunnel has to be cut up & Raised to correct.
Every 2nd Gen has that fancy console they Love.
Except for 1970 TA, 4-speed. It was an option and a few were built without. Such as my 1970-1/2 TA.

When I talked to tremic I have the guys card still he was a racer. Issues happen guys don't index the bell housings or pay attention to proper angles or try to refuse parts they should not.

The Tremec TKO 6 Is just Big.
The Trans tunnel on a 2nd gen TA is smaller than modern Muscle.
Or GM A body 1968-72.
Its a Pony Musclecar so less room.
Made for a TH400 or Muncie 4 1970-74.
Less room come 1975-81 due to the Huge Catalytic converter so only a TH350 fits and used for Autos.

Been working with a guy.
He is a Machinist.
He tried all.
Tremec no help.
Only way is to cut the Trans tunnel and raise. Then raise the rear of the trans up 1 inch.

Look on the Cylinder Head manufacturers website for recommended heat range and part number spark plugs.
Its your baseline spark plug.
Tight quench present as Grumpy recommends its usually dead on with calculated dynamic compression and charts followed here for SBC builds.

always use a bit of anti-seize paste on spark plugs, threads, being used in aluminum cylinder heads even if not required and its best to remove & install them when the engines not very hot, be very careful to start threading them into the heads by hand, and don,t over tighten them as its all too easy to strip soft aluminum plug threads in aluminum cylinder heads, if you have access to a 3/8" drive inch/lb torque wrench 12-13 ft lbs is about correct torque

I need help, I'm putting in a lt4 cam p/n 24502586 and bought a timing chain set for a gen 1 chevy, and the holes don't line up. What timing chain set do I use? The catalogs all show cam sprockets with gears on the front, for this cam, is that what I use? Thanks for your help!

I I remember correct the LT4 Small block Chevy used a factory single row roller timing chain set.
Like or exact same as the 1996-2001 Vortech 350 Chevy did.

Thanks, I didn't know that the timing chain from the gen1 engine would not work on this lt4 hot cam, so if I get the right timing chain gear set, will it work with a button and a gen1 timing cover? thanks

I am not sure.
No one in my memory has done it.

The Grumpy Grease Monkey, will the timing chain gear set from a lt4 small block fit under a gen1 timing chain cover? I'm stuck I have the cam already as per page 2 of this thread. thanks
