Rocker studs

So here is a new question for SBC cast iron heads.

As you may know I am building a 383 low RPM torque engine for my van.

I will be running a mild cam with Rhoads roller lifters with a pair of stock 193 early swirl port heads.

I WAS going to run a nice set of fully roller rockers when I discovered the stock studs were too short for them.

As at that time the heads were already torqued on to the block and I was not willing to pull them for longer studs. So I was running roller tip rockers.

This changed when I discovered my crank and rods had too much clearance and I then tore her down and had my machine shop redo the rotating assembly correctly…

I have to yet reinstall the heads…

SO the BIG question is a two parter:

How good are the stock pressed in rocker studs??

And will a full set of roller rockers be worth anything for an engine that will never see over 5K?

Rich

Also will porting just the exhaust ports help my engine's MPG?

they are PATHETIC at best

And will a full set of roller rockers be worth anything for an engine that will never see over 5K?
if you opt for the 1.6:1 ratio it could easily result in adding 15-18 hp minimum, between lower frictional lose and increased air flow rates

Right, so get the threaded studs.

I feel I am at the most lift I can use so will be running 1.5 after market rockers, at least they are true 1.5.

So are roller rockers still a good idea?

What about porting and polishing only the exhaust ports??

so are roller rockers still a good idea?
yes they can reduce oil temps and free up hp, and generally provide more consistent lift

What about porting and polishing only the exhaust ports??
done carefully it generally helps, but its unlikely to provide big gains

Thanks. Will shop for rockers, and am asking my local machine shop about studs and porting.

Depending on cost on porting will decide rather if it is worth it.
