selecting a distributor for your application

Thanks Brian.. I was researching some on the magnetos today and found that they do not like wet conditions.
This would be a red flag for me, I play in water and mud up to 5' deep.
I will prolly forgo the magneto and use the standalone 6BTM box and a Billet magnetic pick up dizzy.
The Real Test would be to see what Ignition operates under water 7 feet deep.
Just an air snorkel like a US Military truck has.
All my money is on the Vertex Magneto keeps working.
MSD quits burns up under water.

A video I snagged on Facebook.
This test on Slew Rate done by Baldwin carburators.
I grab the vids I Deem of interest.
Thousands put up daily on FB.

Many never put on You Tube for all to see.

Shows fault of all MSD.
Talked about in past.
None issue Slew Rate with Vertex Mags.
All True inductive fire ignition.
No Electronic slew rate changes as rpms increase in Vertex mags.
What you lock in its 100 % accurate always !

The Olds 425 Vertex Mag spin test.

Have to make a new video for everyone.

Spin a Chevy V8 Vertex mag.

A Pontiac V8 mag too.

WELL... It,s not quite 7' deep... but close!

Those pics were before I locked the axles and before the blower was added. And after about 6 beers!

Lol.

Fun stuff.

GM HEI used to do great off road !

Pick your poison as I call it.

Love Vertex mags.
They take $$$ to set up and use.
Found Moroso Solid core ignition wires work best with them.
I wash the engine off in the Gp at the car wash.
Gets dusty dirty driving and sitting outside.
Sometimes I leave the engine running.
Mag does not misfire.
Hits hard and clean yet mag and wires wet with water.
If I leave engine off wash off, it restarts instant.

MSD quits burns up under water.

I be placing the coil and msd box inside the cab high up under the dash.
I have completely removed all wiring and duct work under there.
Will be rewired like a race car.

I like the idea of the magneto, but I am scared to invest all the money into something that may not work in my application.
I really need a way to control the timing when under boost and NOS hit.

I know where your coming from.

We put faith in modern electronics to never fail.
Problem is they do fail.
It takes the engine with it often.

Can never prove because MSD Says Invisable Super Hero.
All the parts inside come from FU Man Chu Chi China.
Guys have taken apart and posted pics.
Nuclear meltdown inside.

Best group to get the truth is the Big Block Chevrolet Performance Group.
I just told Them and posted a picture of my Corvette. Ok with liking Pontiacs also.
