Sheet Lead

Grumpy I was at the scrap yard yesterday and run into some clean sheet lead I think taken from an X ray room anyway it was clean lead so I thought but on the other side was some glue and drywall remnants from removing it I bought 300 pounds and melted it into cupcake pan ingots but it sure was smokey but not a whole lot of junk skimmed from the pot less than a coffee can of junk skimmed off so I suppose that I have pretty close to pure lead now that its into ingots when i melt it again should I mis it 50/50 with wheel weight ingots I have or just add some pure lead to get a 95/5 mixture I need to buy a lead hardness tool

ideally you throw in the wheel weights, or linotype you have access too and add about 5% tin, by volume
if you're even close it will work ok for bullets
the scrap dross is easy to remove, a bit of wood shavings (1/2 cup or less) and paraffin stirred in the molten lead, will float the impurities out on the surface, do outside its going to be a smokey mess for a few minutes

im amazed these are not selling like hotcakes as its maybe 40% linotype and ww allow ingots, and 60% lead with tin added
at less than 1/3rd of what dealers charge and you get a new 50 cal steel, ammo box with it

its rare to find a decent supply of lead, and its getting harder every year.
we used to find linotype bars and w-weights fairly easily, not any longer
